I'll be cutting off no more fingers. I'm practicing my sign-language.

I'd like the option to remain a JW. My boys are giving me a LOT of grief over this. I'm about to make them sleep in the car.

I'm doing some testing of the new OS X 10.10.2 on my Macbook Pro laptop; mainly testing networking ability with the LAN at work. The Mac workstations on our network vary as far as OS goes. Most are using 10.6.8, with 1 using 10.5.5 and 1 older PPC G5 using 10.4.11. We also have 2 - Windows boxes: our Oris server (Windows 7) and our ancient Fuji Gateway server at the platesetter running Windows 2000 Server. Connectivity seems to be no problem with the other Macs, but at first I couldn't connect with either of the Windows boxes. I ended up going to www.macparc.ch/apps/SMBconf and downloaded an app that converts SMB 2 (Mavericks) and SMB 3 (Yosemite) back to SMB 1. I was then able to connect to the Windows 7 server, but am still having no luck connecting to the old Windows 2000 server. Any ideas out there? I'm trying to sort out any possible issues before we upgrade 3 of our Macs to Mavericks 10.9. Can't go any higher because of the limit imposed by Esko on Nexus.

I'm using Yosemite on my iMac at work and several others are still on Mavericks. We even have some on Lion and Mountain Lion. We have no issues connecting to Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 Preview, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, or Windows 2012 Server. But Windows 2000 Server is a problem. I tried doing the downgrade SMB at one time on one of our Macs and no matter I could not get it to connect to Windows 2000 Server plus the added bonus that it screwed up the networking completely on that Mac and I finally had to wipe it out and start over.

Windows 200 Server has been unsupported by Microsoft for a number of years. Even Windows 2003 Server is biting the dust this July. It might be time to move on.

Thanks for the info Joe. I will prob always have at least one workstation that can connect to it. The bigger issue is that we can't upgrade to a new server because of the connections between the W2000 Fuji server and the T9000 platesetter (installed in 2003). The platesetter inputs are SCSI-based, which can't be found on a new server. To upgrade the server we would have to upgrade the platesetter or find some kind of adapter cable(s) that could be utilized to patch a new server into a 12 year old platesetter. We are probably due for a new platesetter but I can't see the suits coughing up any dough for it.

Maybe your Windows 2000 server needs to have an "accident". :toaster: (I know a guy) :rotf:
