Slow yesterday (Saturday); assumed high traffic on Bigpond ISP due to wet weather. Got up this morning, same. Restart browser didn't help.
Read way back that they can slow over time, (some sort of cache bloat?). Anyways... pulled power lead, left out for a few minutes; back up to speed. Anyone know what's going on there?

Try Pinging some well known web sites to see if the link is your connection to the other end.

Utilities>Network Utility>Ping. Packet loss or long responses mean it is beyond your control unless the modem is setting up to die. A long ping could mean a broken cable and a more congested route is being used to keep the net running. A local utility could have knocked over a pole, broke a fibre optic cable or your ISP is having Server issues are all that have happened here. My modem recently started acting up with 30% packet loss and when on the phone with tech support they agreed. New modem next day made happy client.
