Quote from: david on October 24, 2011, 09:39:26 AMI've had pretty good luck with the Acro to Word conversion. What kind of word file do you have?
I noticed you said it was a log file, does it look like an Excel file with cells or what?

This file started out in PageMaker and was converted to InDesign. My boss is going to redo the log sheets in Excel. I'm not familiar with Excel myself.
Holy cow. RageMaker to InDesign to Word. Now there's a 2 point reversal for ya! As an old boss of mine used to say, "Just push a button. That's why you prepress guys make the good money," as he walks away grumbling something about stupid computers and how things used to be better with film.

Sounds like Malwick.
Emm, errr, nooo, Not him. But tell me more! Have our paths crossed somewhere?! :blank:

I used to work for him a long time ago. Is he still at Heritage? Yes, our paths have crossed many times in the last few months. Do you wanna guess, or should I just tell you?
Yes he is, I am not, thank God. I have your true identity narrowed down but... send me an email so we don't tie this thread down!

It's prepress related, don't sweat it. I worked for Malwick back when he and Mosher owned Graphic Arts Prepress Lab back in the early 90s. Real piece of work, that guy. Killed myself for him for 5 years working no less than 80+ hours a week the entire time I worked there.... fired me and Nick Burns, (Another member here) on the same day for being 5 minutes late. I should have figured staying up there until 2 AM the night before getting all his crap done wasn't as important as I thought it was. When I heard Delaney hired him as a Manager, I never laughed so hard. Talk about putting someone in a position they don't belong in. Did you work under him? I feel for you if you did.

Jason from Southwestern. Were you correct?

Translated roughly from Latin, Malwick could mean "awful penis"

How will I laugh tomorrow...
when I can't even smile today?

[/quote]Hey Jason - nope, never woulda guessed. He actually hired me, brought me down from Washington state. Heritage paid my way, then hired someone else for prepress so I got put in as Job Planner. Not a lot of heart in the upper echilons of that place, I can say now that I am not there - good fellow employees some are. Things sound like thin ice for SW also.

Not as bad as you would think. We are staying busy, I just question a lot of decisions from upper management. Buying equipment when we have idle presses makes me wonder. I'm just a monkey, what do I know, right?

Mark Weems still up there? I worked with him several years ago. Probably quite a few people there I would know. Been doing Prepress in OKC for the last 20 years or so.

Glad to hear you are staying busy. Thanks for getting that last job out for us. Weems I believe is still there. John Paul quit a while back. I've been out of there for 1 a year and a half.
Happy posting, I'll be reading your journals!

No problem. Hey, quick question... how do you deal with Bruce? Hahahahahaha! You don't really have to answer, I already know. You can feel safe on the B4.... what we talk about, stays HERE!

There is a lot of good information on this site. Not only that, but it's also a great place to let out some of your aggressions. We all one big happy Prepress family. Well, not all of us are happy, but you get the idea.

To be fair, Rick and I have never actually met. All e-mails and mediators.

I'm sure Rick is thrilled of that fact too.

Ear used to call me on the phone, I think I may have swayed him gay with my deep, sexy, super-keen voice.

I remember that. I push in my phone code, and hear the slightest, faintest voice.... "DCS, I will kill you mutherfucker... " I knew then and there, I had been "touched" by the Gnub. It was glorious.
