Do you get an error when you enter that in terminal. It is supposed to work in Yosemite.

Also try entering:

defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse MouseHorizontalScroll -bool YES

Turn it off and back on and then again try:

defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.mouse MouseHorizontalScroll -bool NO

Turn it off and back on and then try again.

No I didn't try it. I actually like the horizontal scrolling once I got used to it.

Nope, didn't work again. Also, no error.

Where exactly is the unwanted horizontal scrolling occurring?

The 3 programs I use often, Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Indesign is my main complaint. If I could at least turn that off, I'll stop talking like Yosemite Sam.

I tried the terminal command on my iMac with Yosemite and it did not work for me either. I guess my last attempt, which I don't have time to try right now, is to reboot after issuing the terminal command and see if it works after that. Have you tried that yet?

Found a solution skryber.

MagicPrefs

It's free. Install it and then open its preferences and click the "Configure Scrolling" button as shown here:

Then uncheck this "Horizontal" button shown here:

[attachimg=2 width=400]

I think that's why he's running this sideshow.  ;D  Now all I need is an app that'll get my 3M Ergonomic Mouse configured. Ain't gonna happen...

I don't really agree with that. Sorry. I still have an old Apple optical mouse on my machine at work. Still the best.
