I found a script that works well. It allows you to place a multi page PDF and resize at the same time, a handy dialog box comes up and you select what features you need.
I find it usually takes 2-3 times to get what i want, but is dead easy to use. you can find it here: http://indesignsecrets.com/placing-all-the-pages-of-a-pdf-inside-indesign.php

After download, find your indesign folder/scripts and simply place the file into the scripts folder. Restart inDesign and find the scripts palette, click the title you just put in there, and bingo. i've used this since CS5 and the same script still works in CC.

I use this one. It is a javascript so it has to go in the /Applications/Adobe InDesign CC/Scripts/Scripts Panel/Samples/JavaScript folder (Adjust InDesign folder for whatever version you are using. I've used it in CS 5.5 and 6...and CC)
