Variable Vertical Text

Any tips on creating vertical text for variable?
I had a little difficulty, I had to manually fix the 1 and 2 digit numbers
the 3 digits were ok

like in InD with data merge or something else?

justification issues?

I did text to path, just wondering if there is a different way of doing it

like, couldnt you just rotate a regular text box 90 degrees?

(edit) nevermind. stoopid adobe. The tool is easily available in illy. why not Ind?

that was it, I had to manually adjust 1-99
to get the text centered and spaced properly
