Title: Design Challange. . . .
Post by: Lammy on August 05, 2008, 10:33:11 PM
OK I'm burnt and can't come up with anything I'm liking so I figure I'll give all yous guys a crack at it.

I need a logo. Biggest catch is it's for letterpress so some limitations do apply. I can get a metal or polymer plate made for it so your not stuck to movable type ;) screens are most likely out of the question though. The logo is for Full Metal Press.

Have at it.

Full Metal Press

That is the logo company you need help with. and it is going to print on a letter press?

We all run on empty sometimes. (Me more than most)

I like to trawl through this site to get a few ideas..

http://www.misipile.com/

...clean and simple solids are what you'd need for a letterpress job - or you could go for a blind emboss if it's for stationery.

Cool...you typed "challange" exactly how I pronounce it when I'm trying to sound French, spoken with a sultry sh at the beginning.

'Tis my calling in life. I stay pretty busy going through every blog on the Internet, leaving comments on posts that have spelling & grammar errors in them. You do realize I'm going to change the world, one typo at a time.

yeah ummm speeling challenges aside. . . . (http://nastyz28.com/ubb/icons/confused.gif) Grow up the lot of you, huh.

This will be used in letterpress printing either as a metal cut with lead type or on a photopolymer plate. Single color no screens is preferable.

It's not a business exactly. It's a Private Press. Basically some geek in his basement printing things for entertainment. ;)

Kind of limiting without screens. Can't do the soft shadow, inner bevel, outer glow, reflection that is required in design class. Here is my lame and predictable effort though.

I sure hope you blast the people who have gone crazy with apostrophes. Around here, at least, almost every plural word has one. Like "Pig's for sale."

Worst one I ever saw was a sign in a grocery store advertising the price on gallon jugs of milk. It said, "gal gug's."

Oh, and then the flyers about the "gaint" yard sale. Saw those for years.

They're called "green grocer's apostrophes" because you tend to see them on produce signs and sidewalk restaurant menu boards. Surely we could devote an entire thread to it - there's even a Flickr page dedicated to apostrophe abuse - but not this one because Joe might start delivering whuppins.

Here's the prop card (it's a letterpress thing) I had done some time ago. Not really a logo on it but any little bit helps I guess. (http://69.182.149.166/FMP_Prop_card_2008.04.25.jpg)

And this one time round I'd be one of those clients that says something like "I'm not sure what I want but I'll know it when I see it"  :undecided:

Definitely seeing some ideas I like. Thanks all for the help, keep em coming.

he got his idea from me, in a round about way, like he thought of it first and I kinda liked it, so there.

mines more pointed than his, and it's angled, and it's... different.
