Enfocus / Crashing acro x & pitstop 10
May 02, 2012, 09:52:54 AM
Are any of you are having problems with actions that you imported from a previous version? have you found that you need to recreate your actions instead of importing what you already made? I have an action to remove pages 3-5 of a 5 page file and acrobat crashes after about I do about 5 files. Before I remake my actions I thought I would ask here first to see if others are having issues.

Thanks!

Agfa Systems / Plate order from Apogee 7
March 29, 2011, 10:42:49 AM
Anyone having any issues with plates plating out of order?

We moved to Apogee 7 and with this lost printdrive (didn't like that from the get go!) we now make plates out of Apogee vs printdrive and the plates come out in random order, should plate sig 1f-1b, 2f-2b, 3f-3b etc... what I am getting is sig 1f-3b, 4f-1b, etc... if I select the sigs one at a time(vs select all) and give them the thumbs up one at a time they will output in order, if I change the collect for output to job they will output in order, but when you use job in the collect for output and you need to remake one plate you have to re-edit the job and change the collect for output to separations or it would plate the entire job wth!?! all I'm am trying to do is use select all, have the plates output in order, and be able to re-image a single plate if needed with out reprocessing or re-editing the job.

Thanks for any input you might have,

Sorry if this has been covered already. I did some searching through the forum and found no info on this problem. We have a customer who refuses to leave Quark and move on to Indy, so they just keep upgrading.... well we have to upgrade too so we are on Q8 now, and for some reason, beyond me, when the file is written to Apogee it puts the name on twice and as you know file names with more than 32 caricatures can cause some problems, luckily 6.0 will replace the illegal caricature and still write in the file but, I have to rename it before I send the customer a pdf proof. Any suggestions on getting Quark to stop putting the name on twice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I know this is mainly a color proofing form but I don't see a better place to post this.

We have been using a sherpa 2i for our imposition and layout proofs. My boss want's to move away from using it so I have been running them on our Canon image press 1110 witch is a B/W copier, I can also run them on the 6000 full color copier if needed. They both have a maximum sheet size of 13 x 19.

We have Apogee 6.0, so I just added a hi rez export to the work flow and then I print the imposed flat to one of the copiers needless to say I have to shrink to fit when printing jobs that are running on a sheet size of 22.5 x 17.5 -  29 x 20 to fit on the 13x19 sheet. My boss doesn't care for this and wants me to see what others are doing to make imposition proofs. He does not want me to send out to the customer a shrunk down folded, stitched etc.. proof, but I only send these out with a contract proof so the customer can see what it will look like when finished otherwise they are just for me to use.

A spin jet or any other type of printer is not an option I have to use the canons.

I use preps 4.2 to make my templates and I can certainly make templates in 13 x 19 sizes to output flats that do not need to be shrunk down but you loose printing a proof of what you've imposed for press something I'm not thrilled with, and anything that is larger than 12.5 x 18.5 has to be shrunk to fit on the paper like pocket folders, 3 panel folded 8.5 x11 brochures etc... so no matter what a shrunk down proof will go out to a customer at some point.

I think I will suggest to him that we have a sticker made to place on the proof (for imposition only) this should keep the customer from thinking that we are runnig their job at the wrong size (this was one of my my bosses concerns).

I would appreciate any input you have on this.... sorry for the long post just trying to get some feedback to bring to the boss.

Thanks,

-Dan

Items for Sale / Two Proofers for Parts
December 02, 2009, 12:55:59 PM
I have a Sherpa 43 and a Grand Sherpa 50 for parts. On the 43 I removed the control board on the keypad I needed it for our Sherpa 2i. The GS50 was working fine than the light back stopped printing so I would say that print head is clogged, other than that it was running fine.

If anyone is interested please email me.

CTP - CTF / Lap V to chem free plates
March 05, 2009, 04:52:20 PM
I took a look through the forum but did not see too much on this topic, what I did see was from 2007.

We are moving to a new plate system in 6 mo or so, our lease will be up and we want to go chem free, I don't know if we will stay with agfa so we are looking at the fuji process on the press plate. Anybody using ecomaxx plates from fuji?, do you like them or hate them? or is there a better alternative to the process on the press plate that I should be looking into. I am a little sketchy on the whole clean the emulsion with the press thing.

Thanks for any help on this.

CMS - Proofing - Printers / Grand Sherpa 50
March 03, 2009, 01:58:13 PM
Our GS50 has developed an ink consumption issue, two of the ink cartridges are draining out too fast, the ink is just going down the drain as we are not running a lot of proofs right now.

This problem started on a Friday I replaced a Lt black cartridge and a cleaning (transition fluid) cartridge that were empty, I did a normal clean and that was it for the day. On Monday I did my usual power cleaning in the morning, then in the afternoon I went to do a normal cleaning and I saw there was an error message on the GS50 and found that both new cartridges were drained empty, I replaced and monitored them to see if they would drain out again right away they did not but they are draining out a whole lot faster then they should.

Has anyone experience this or know how to fix it? or did you have to call in a technician to fix it. I have no service contract on this machine since agfa dropped all service on the sherpas.

Thanks for any help you might have. If I need to have a tech come in can you recommend a company to use.
