I want to have my pitstop preflight fix any NChannel to Device N
wondering if there would be any potential problems doing this.

weird problem, I have had a few NChannel errors lately
The pages went thru XMF preflight fine but after doing layout
it failed when rendering. I'm really not sure if it was the NChannel 
that caused the problem or what, but I think I want my pitstop
preflight to fix NChannel. 

What causes something to be NChannel?

X1A'd the 2 problem pages-fixed

It was a Black only job.

DeviceN exists in PDF 1.6 or later so saving back down to a lower version PDF will remove it. It's related to DeviceN. Generally you'll see it when someone is using spot colors. While the file you processed was K only, maybe some other color info was in the file.

I think gray scale images are converted to NChannel anytime there is transparency on the page. Making an X1A would definitely flatten the pages but that should be a last resort. Since it only affected a couple of pages I'll bet there were other pages that had NChannel images in them that processed fine. I'd investigate further to get to the root cause.

I did investigate and found it was the transparent object that caused the problem
and not the NCHannel

Could you please modify the select tool so that when you are "shift" clicking multiple items when the output preview is open that that frikken green stickie doesn't appear?

Adobe wont' do anything about it, maybe y'all can. Say, "control-click" or something like that? I would sing your praises for forever and a day if you could.

If it's in Adobe's code I don't think ABC can do anything about it.  :undecided:

They could change it to another keyboard command as pspdfppdfx said. Talking to Adobe is like arguing with a brick wall. Enfocus will at least listen. Adobe may have patented every available keyboard command though to block 3rd party developers from doing something sensible.

i was on some old adobe forum, and someone had said "quit using pitstop" as the fix.
and then another guy said, "like we said, quit using pitstop"
