We had someone come in our front door with 40 yr old building plans on microfiche that he wanted printed out. Has anyone dealt with this before and does it involve a neg scanner? (we don't have one). We referred him to a repro place in town that does maps and stuff.

Oddly enough I'm currently reading a book about how libraries destroyed millions of books to preserve on microfiche. Is this even still used? I haven't seen one of those slide readers since I was a young whippersnapper.

I guess google's book scanning project has dwarfed whatever's left of microfiche archives.

I remember visiting the library when I was in college and they had an extensive microfiche section, which (and I honestly don't know why I know this) included the entire run of Playboy.
"There's been a lot of research recently on how hard it is to dislodge an impression once it's been implanted in someone's mind. (This is why political attack ads don't have to be true to be effective. The other side can point out their inaccuracies, but the voter's mind privileges the memory of the original accusation, which was juicier than any counterargument ever could be.)"

I was going to suggest  to take it to the library or a local newspaper.
they should all have a microfiche printer, maybe.
