CMS - Proofing - Printers / Epson 10600 problem
March 03, 2018, 10:27:45 AM
Have an older Epson 10600 that I use on occasion. Was a workhorse for me for years. Was working fine up until about a month ago. Uses older Dupont Cromanet software to rip the files. Problem I am having now is the printhead goes across a few times, then parks itself for a minute or two, then goes across a few more times, etc. It will print, but a 24x36 print could take over an hour to print. I had one of the IT guys here look at it, but he's a younger guy that isn't familiar with this equipment and software at all. The transfer of data from the PC to printer seems to be OK according to him. He pretty much put his hands up in the air and said he doesn't know what the problem is. I can't find anyone locally to service the printer to troubleshoot. Epson won't service it and their cost would be prohibitive anyway. So, anyone have any ideas on this? I am not an IT guy at all so I may not be putting enough details into what I am asking. I just want the thing fixed. Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks.

Adobe InDesign / Re: InDesign Publish Online

Thanks Joe. That product looks great! We've been using iPaper for quite some time, but they changed their pricing structure last year and it's just not worth the cost to us anymore. How long have you been using FLIPHTML5?

Adobe InDesign / Re: Double Hit Spot Swatch
March 02, 2017, 02:32:10 PM
Make a Mixed Ink swatch. In the Swatch pallet choose your spot color and duplicate it. I always put 2X at end of swatch name so I know it's the second hit. Select New Mixed Ink Swatch, click the box to the left of the two spot colors and enter your desired % to the right of the spot colors. We usually do 80% for the second hit.

Fonts / Font management for PC running Windows 8
September 12, 2016, 10:41:32 AM
Finally upgraded to a new PC recently at work and need to grab some font management software. Old PC was running ATM. I'm a Mac guy so I'm not really too familiar with the Windows environment, but got charged with that task. What are you guys using that you would recommend?

Quote from: almaink on June 09, 2015, 06:38:53 AMMy take on the free part was it was free for a year and you will have to pay for it if you need to do a reinstall after that one year. They almost make it sound like it will no longer function after a years time unless you pay, like a free rental for a year. I for one will stick with Windows 7 as long as I can.

That is the way I understand it as well.

Quote from: zacgil on October 17, 2014, 09:53:27 AMHi All,

Our Supplier (Alder Tech) is no longer selling any HP products.   We won't need paper but I will still need a way to get Ink/Printheads.  Anybody still use a HP Designjet 1050C? Or know of a good supplier?  I was told that HP is pulling their products from smaller shops and giving them all to the bigger companies... Sounds about right.

We use the 1050C a lot. We use to have a source for refurbs as well, but those are no longer available through that source. Been getting them from the same supplier that we get plates and rolls of paper for the printers. Would love to find an alternative source since the current pricing is pretty crazy.

Delooch, thanks for the link to inkplustoner.com. Will check it out. Their prices are about 1/3 of the cost of new inks

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately, Corn, it's not a USB dongle. It is a HASP4.

DCS- checked out the web site, but since we had to reinstall the software on a different hard drive so I don't think that will do the trick. Will investigate further though.

We are running an old version of Spinflow version 2.1. The hard drive of the PC that this was running on went down and cannot be saved. All the data was lost. Reinstalled the software from the original cd's on different PC. No problem there. However, in order to do anything we need the passcode for the dongle. Prompt says to "contact your dealer" for the code. Contacted Spinflow to get code. Their response was that they no longer support that version. Told them I don't need support, I just need the code for the dongle for the license that we already own. They say that they can no longer give that information. Apparently not anywhere in there system anymore. Why? Who knows. All I know is now they want me to upgrade to the newest version for about $1000.

Poked around on their web site looking for anything and downloaded Spinflow tools. Supposed to be able to use this to recover a lost passcode for the dongle. Can't get this to work as it says "Dongle not found". I have a feeling this version of Spinflow Tools only works with the latest versions.

Of course, no documentation anywhere from the guy that installed it here years ago and he is long gone from the company.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to recover this passcode? Maybe an older version of Spinflow Tools that works with v2.1?

Hoping someone out there can help. Our IT guy is pulling his hair out trying to get this resolved.  Thanks in advance for any help.

Adobe Acrobat / Re: Verify Operation Failed

Quote from: Joe on June 24, 2013, 01:58:49 PMIf you are using Acrobat X, rest assured you will start getting this error soon. It started Monday morning for every Mac using Acrobat X. 14 users. And it appears to be a widespread problem.

I'll bet Adobes answer will be to "Upgrade to Acrobat XI".

Same here. Been wondering what that was all about. Thanks for posting.
