Colorpath needs Silverlight. It is easier to make it run in Safari than Firefox or Chrome. Just configure Safari to enable Java and internet plug-ins, in this case Silverlight to "always allow".

Okay here is a better solution when restoring archive jobs.

Abort plates in your queue manager after restoring a job. Do not release it, abort it instead.

Also try to un-check [Job resources] in your archiver settings. Then test the archiver. Archive a job and restore it. Then check the effects in our restored job.

Quote from: Lyzan on September 18, 2017, 06:09:43 AMThere's a button somewhere that you can check which is written like [Hold before output]. When you restore an archive file, before releasing the workflow items for re-processing, make sure that this check box is checked.

'Hold before output'  found under the device settings.    Yes, this is checked.  We even replaced the entire tab on retrieved jobs and they still randomly autoplate.

Try looking in Page Prep Preferences and see if Auto Flow and Auto Complete jobs is on?

You are not outputting via TIFF Export? I am not sure about this but I think XMF archiver remembers the last settings and actions done with the job. I can only suggest a workaround, Put your platesetter offline when restoring from XMF archive. Also how did you setup your platesetter? Did you install the platesetter with separate workstations using XMF slave installation?  Also, I will assume that the archive jobs did not include the render files which by the way is the right strategy.  And I think, Fujifilm has a very good support. You can raise this issue to them.

Quote from: frailer on September 27, 2017, 06:14:37 PMYeah...good tips.

I got stung yesterday by a bad combo of Creep Adjustment, along with a front cover needing to be changed from W&T to Sheet (roller marks on press). It should have ONLY asked me to re-render the first section, but it signalled a re-render of the lot, Shoulda smelled a rat there and then, but nup... It changed the creep adjustment cos I'd not checked "Use Default Creep' on the newly jigged cover section. We were only part way through plating the text...oh, and a plate fail/replate required in the middle of it.
Was like unravelling a cryptic puzzle.

I *think* it'll bind OK, (made a full mock up from printed sheets), but wont be happy until it's bound and nobody walks in with *that* look on their face.   :undecided:

XMF did not prompt you of choices which signatures you want to re-render? A job completed and then edited will make XMF ask you which signature you want to re-render.

There's a reported bug in the client for iMac. Not only that issue, there will be a time that the client is going to be really slow. No issue with windows platform. I am not upgrading until the latest patch is released.

How does your platesetter connected to your XMF - thru XMF device driver or third party TIFF catcher?

Anyway, either way, you need to configure your target device with corresponding media. This can be accomplished by using the ColorPath Organizer and the Calibration Manager.

Or color management. In [ Job Structure] pane, choose the page you want to change, then some panes will be presented below the workflow manager. Choose the [Color] pane, then the color management options will be presented.

You mean [Page Tone Adjustment]? It is in [Signature View]. Alt/click or Opt/click to select a page in your preview pane. Value is between -25 and 25.

oops, sorry I did not saw your second screenshot. You will not be able to change that. If you want 200lpi, round, click <BROWSE>, and select the appropriate screening you wanted. Elliptical 50/70 is a custom generated screen. You can create ROUND in the Calibration Manager. Browse first and look for FFQS conventional screening.

Select the <BROWSE> button and you will be presented by different screening installed or generated in your system. There are two locations where you can do this. The first one is from your screen shot <job settings>. The second one is in the workflow item <Plates> if you are printing direct to plate.
If there is no ROUND in your system, this means it is not generated. You can generate it using a program called something like Calibration Manager not the Colorpath. BUT, XMF has FFQS convetional screening pre-installed. You should be able to see it when your click the BROWSE button.

which gave you different dot gain, thus the color difference.

This is not even close to your situation as I am on a Mac but I do have Acrobat DC on this Mac but my version of Preps is version 7. I created a new job and added a set of pages created in InDesign CS5 and printed an imposed PDF and I didn't get the error you are getting.

When are you getting the error? When it starts to print and fails or does it print the PDF and you get the error when you try to open it in Acrobat? Or where exactly?

=3= rawr! my boss should really consider upgrading to a higher version! The error happens when it starts to print :(...

No, you just need to downgrade to PDF/X-1a.

//Lyzan

Disagree unless you have a RIP that doesn't do transparency. Otherwise you are just destroying a perfectly good PDF.

But his PDF was not perfectly good PDF, otherwise he will be able to do it in Preps 6 without problem.  His problem has nothing to do with whatever version of Acrobat he has. But it has something to do with how his PDF was re-purposed to meet Preps 6 requisites.

Anyway, you are generally right. I should had just told him to try PDF/X. And for me both PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-4 are perfectly good PDF for print.

Usually error like that in Preps was a result of opening a PDF file in Acrobat and saving it "innocently" to whatever version because who knows what additional information the new version of Acrobat is putting in the file.

uhm...how can i do that? sorry..im not really good at tweaking pdf @.@ can you please guide me? i'll really appreciate it.

Try this. Open your original PDF file in Acrobat. Under the tools, [Print Production], choose preflight. Then choose {Standards) tab, select Save as PDF/X, click [continue].

Try to use first [Save as PDF/X-4], click [continue]. You can create a PDF/X-4 file base on known presets or you can ignore the presets, just choose the output intent and check [apply corrections].

Add the finish PDF/X in your Preps job. Then try to print it. If it doesn't work, go back again to your original PDF file, and the same procedure but use PDF/X-1a, but review your files page by page after.
