"There's been a lot of research recently on how hard it is to dislodge an impression once it's been implanted in someone's mind. (This is why political attack ads don't have to be true to be effective. The other side can point out their inaccuracies, but the voter's mind privileges the memory of the original accusation, which was juicier than any counterargument ever could be.)"

Signing up now. Heard about it on NPR a while ago but never thought it woud make it out to the woods.

I'll let you know.

Welp, works good here at work. Was watching a little let's make a deal.

We'll see how it works at home in the sticks.

I'm not joking. There's an ISP in Las Cruces that still offers dialup and people use it. There's a lot of empty space out here, though wouldn't DSL work if you have a landline?

I'm on DSL at home and Aereo works but on the lowest quality. Still watchable but I bumped it up to medium and it only had to buffer once or twice.

The site needs more polish. I tried to figure out how to get the roku hooked up using my Galaxy. In order to do anything you have to link that device to Aereo so I now wasted one of my 5 devices on my galaxy that they don't support yet. The Roku channel is pretty good but it needs a listing more like a cable listing than the one at a time stuff. It may just be me, I didn't put too much time in. It was too beautiful out and there were pale ales to drink.

So far, I think it works pretty good. I may have to see if there is a faster DSL option in my area but I don't think so.

the site says it's available in New York, Boston and Atlanta only.

@FBomb, can you connect your Galaxy to the Roku via the USB port (Roku 2 and later only) and then using the Roku USB channel?

^^ I know this works with the USB port on my tv - I can plug my Samsung phone directly in to it and whatever displays on my phone also displays on my tv. You can do this with a the hdmi connector/adapter for your phone too, if your tv only has hdmi and no usb.

[edit] I just re-read my post and clarify a little better; I gave you misinformation. The usb connection to tv only displays the content folders for playing files stored there like music, video or photo. The hdmi connection is the one that mimics the display screen of the phone exactly.

It's great for me because I have an antenna but I'm so much in the sticks I get one channel. Now I can watch live TV (letterman is fucking old now) on the channels available and if I get into a show on netflix and they are a few seasons behind I can DVR them and be current.

I'm still going to be telling people I don't have TV so I don't have to be involved in the "did you see what xxx did on some crap show last night" conversation.

The thing I wonder is my location goes by my billing addy. I wonder if it's possible to be on vacation and still view local news and such. Not that it matters right now. No android support as of yet but it's coming or so they say.

I wonder how long before the networks and cable pitch a bitch. It's free, over the air programming but someone figured out how to charge for it. No different than slapping a antenna on your roof but it just streams to your browser or other supported device.

Digi, I haven't tried the USB thing. I have a MHL HDMI adapter for the galaxy and even my old droid has a mini HDMI that will mirror the phone to the TV. I rarely use it now for 2 reasons. One, I just pull the micro SD from my phone and put it into my USB adaptor and plug that into my Roku. Option 2 is take out the micro SD and put it into my MK808 android on a stick and play it from there.
