Macintosh / Email client blew up
July 24, 2008, 08:05:48 AM
MacMail 2.1.3 on a G4 running 10.4.11
I'm emailing a proof yesterday and my MacMail crashes. I restart, it's takes me to "new account", I plug in some crap just to get the the accounts folder and my work pop account is gone.
I call our host and the nightmare starts.
3 different techs give me 3 different incoming mail server names. That's pretty much beside the point tho.
I go to their actual mail server on line, type in my user name and password and there's my inbox. So online my user name and password work. OK, psych, didn't lose anything.
I go back to MacMail try to set up my POP account. No matter what I use as an incoming mail server my password will not let me log in on a mail client.
I've used at least 5 different ones. The mails is working on the PCs, I use their info, still doesn't work
I've tried:  pop.host.com, pop.domain.com, username.host.com, mail.username.com, mail.domain.com. Nothing works. The last (and seemed to be most on the ball) tech swore that username.host.com is the correct incoming server. The pcs have  mail.domain.com as theirs.
I also dowloaded Thunderbird and got the same results. I can't get my password to work on any incoming server name, although it works on line.
They ticketed the job so some übertech is gonna call me within 24-48 hours, but I figured I'd throw it out there.
Thanks.

July 23, 2008, 07:19:51 AM
I know that this has happened to others. Anyone figured out a fix? I'm saving pages as .eps and distilling and that works but the export function just begins and then I get a "page couldn't be saved as a .pdf"
Yes Alma I missed the memo. :P

Other OS / Linux on a Windows box
July 14, 2008, 09:26:41 PM
Bosslady is thinking about tricking out her Dell with a Linux OS. I know nothing. Does anyone have any info, input, have a friend of a friend who's done it? Any feedback or advice greatly appreciated as always.
