The machine will shut off eventually if this is ignored. When I had this code I called Epson and they helped me even though I didn't have a service contract and it was out of warranty. I told them the new proofer was on order and this one had to last another couple of weeks.

Here's what I have chicken scratched on a paper.

Hold pause, down & right arrow (all 3) while turning the proofer on.

Press down 2 times to Clear Counter, right arrow then down arrow 9 times. Press right arrow.

Anyways, good luck.

Been using one for 12 years now.

Here's the dealio - it is useful for inventory tracking as long as you charge the material and the material is added when received.

It is a PITA to get used to. You will have to look up 100's or more material codes to charge. For wasted material we would charge to job #666 or some other code you will need to make that is used for waste.

We have a code for everything, quite literally thousands of codes. I would suggest to the poor soul making material codes to start with Pressroom materials begin with a 2XXXXX, Bindery as 3XXXXX, Prepress as 4XXXXX - this way it is a little easier for the person making the material codes to keep them organized. If a material code is 49667 you would know that it is a prepress material. You could use letters to start the code also.

PM me if you want more specific examples.

Where is this filter at? I have never changed ours or even know where to look.

Quark Xpress / Re: Quark and Spot Colors

I would make a new process swatch in Quark to match the illy color and not apply the imported illy color to the Quark stuff.

Try turning the spot to process before you PDF the doc.

Windows / Re: Server 'blow-out'

I have a grounded vacuum and I ground myself with a wrist band.

The air just blows dust bunnies around. Check the fans and just replace them if they are junked up.

When you go to restart the server - turn around three times, jump up twice and pray that it comes back up.

Never use the W&Turn, just set it up as Single-Sided.

W&Turn will burn you every time.

RAMpage / RIP Data Transform
December 27, 2012, 11:45:07 AM
Had a job come through here that dropped the images when the spots were converted to process in the prescan. If the spots were left to pass through then the images magically appeared.

Talked to Rampage and they suggested to let the spots pass through and then run the pages through the RDT (RIP Data Transform).

I usually like files to work when RIPped the first time but this RDT interests me. Anyone have experience with the RDT?

My son has these McSweeney books everywhere. They are F'n mind-boggling on how they are put together. One is a double spine nightmare, I can't figure out some of the others.

Kodak Preps / Re: Preps 5
December 18, 2012, 12:23:05 PM
I am using an old Mac mini that has been passed around. The CD/DVD just quit working. Every once and a while it reboots with Preps in demo mode. Really helpful when you have a template open. The dongle thing sux rocks, I know and if I get caught playing with my dongle again I'll be fired.
:hello: Notice I am waving with one hand. lol

Kodak Preps / Preps 5
December 17, 2012, 02:57:03 PM
What version Mac OS can you go up to and still be able to run Preps 5?

We only have one Mac left under 10.6 and it is the Preps station and it is sputtering.

Quote from: DigiCorn on November 29, 2012, 05:20:09 PMWe had a little bit of a lull last week before the holiday, but this week it took off gangbusters again. I've been in an out of work this week with some kind of dental issue. First they thought I had a sinus problem, and sent me for XRays and then a CT Scan. Both came back negative so I went to the dentist and got more XRays. He thinks my old mercury fillings are leaking, and wants to swap them out, but that's not the problem.

The dentist pointed out that it must be TMJ, but it's high on my cheekbone (the pain), and not in the jaw joint. I've taken ibuprofen, tramadol, some other thing that's like 800mg ibuprofen, maxlt and vicodin. Then two vicodin (which made me sicker than hell - dizzy, nauseaus, etc.). The only relief I've gotten (other than when I passed out from the vicodin), was from some acetomenophen that expired 3 years ago.

I've taken to wearing an old football helmet's mouthpiece, which is cheaper than the $250 the dentist wants to custom make me a mouthguard to keep me from grinding my teeth in my sleep. Apparently, the grinding is a subconscious reaction to stress.

I go in Wed for 4 wisdom teeth extractions, I am freaking out but the pain is intolerable so here I go.  :tantrum2:

You should get any amalgam fillings replaced. Do not get the silver shit put back in - that Mercury is toxic and don't believe them when they say it isn't.
