How do you clean your glass monitors?
getting tips online can be confusing, I want to be careful but I also want it to be clean not smeary

David

Soft lint free cloth and ammonia free glass cleaner.
You may not want to do it if the monitor is hot (or warm), the glass cleaner will leave streaks because it dries too quickly. Don't scrub

Keep people from touching the screen will help.  If you do need to touch it, use your finger backwards (your finger nail facing the screen) that way you don't leave a greasy print.

I had a color retoucher I worked with that would lose his mind if you ever touched his screen with you bare finger.

Hey thanks! good tip about it being warm!!!
I don't touch it but somehow it gets dirty, I do eat lunch at my desk, Oh and snacks!  ;D

And if you do get streaks, sometimes a lens cloth as a final step...
and if you still get streaks, a tiny bit of water on cloth believe it or not.
I had a hell of a time once with a dusty flatscreen tv and discovered that trick, it was what finally worked after all of the logical things!

keep the snacks away from the keyboard!!!

I am the guy the hates people eating over the keyboard, my wife does it and I have had several co-workers do it as well.
I have also replaced more keyboards due to stuff inside them (coke, cookie crumbs, sticky jelly keys... nasty stuff).

I have several micro fiber cloths that I use for my glasses, and I use them on the monitor as well.

My keyboard is clean David!  ;D

I keep my keyboard up close to the monitor, leaves room for writing.
I'm not allowed to eat those foods you listed, I wish!

I will get a new fresh cloth, they seem to get dirty too, The water tip sounds good too
My Monitor will be sparkly and shiny

AS WELL, HE SHOULD ... I still get angry over it!

When I did photoshop 40hrs a week, uninterrupted, I used to flip out over that shit ... you'd be "in the zone" crushing 1hr enahnce/sharpen reqs in about 15mins, only to WASTE 5 mins trying to clone out some grubby A-hole's finger print on the screen!

I buy those micro fiber lens cloths a dozen at a time on the Zon, they do get dirty / wear out.
I keep them everywhere... I can't stand any specks splotches or smears on my glasses!

Ya ever know anyone that would point at the screen with a pen and get ink on it?

an electric shock if my finger goes near it  ;D

I can't have a spec on my glasses either, I guess it's a prepress thing  ;D

My husband tho, my goodness Clean your glasses!!1

Joe

I just use the micro fiber lens cloths with no liquids. They usually give you one with your Mac or OWC gives you one with their SSD replacement kit and you can buy them pretty cheap too. It does a great job of removing greasy fingerprints of the deceased that put them there.

I get very triggered over people touching my screen with fingers.

My revenge is to go to their screen when no one else is around, run my index finger knuckle deep inside both nostrils and smear that all over their screen.

They don't know who does it, but I do and that is good enough for me.
If you don't like my comment, ignore it. If you don't know how to ignore it, message me and I will be only too happy to demonstrate how.

I had a coworker who dropped a paperclip on a photo typesetter keyboard before they started putting those protective membranes underneath. Shorted it out.
