I just happen to get a pdf today that will not go through my rip, that I think could be fixed with this new version. Specificly the Crop Line Art function. Any chance this will be released, or maybe ABC would be willing to give it a go?

Hi Paul
At first sight it looks promising, over 200,000 elements removed, and file size reduced by over 100mb.

Will upload the file in the morning

Sheesh. Finally, we have 2 upgraded CC seats. Have 2 printed out upgraded Maintenance license sheets with Key and Serial Nos.

Rusty on this... procedure, Readers' Digest, if you can...something like...

-get on to Enfocus website.
-seek download(s). (can we use the 1 download DMG?).
-the 2 maintenance units will replace current ones on to-be-decommissioned iMacs, so new install, new Acrobat Pro CC, on new iMacs.

Now I believe PitStop is machine tethered. My query is whether the new licenses are in themselves tethered to one or other of the current PSPs.
Or, can we randomly plug in either one to Acrobat on each iMac?

So many questions. My head hurts. It's ANZAC Day tomorrow; my compadre will be in Thursday, we'll nut it out, but some intel would be great; been a while.

Hi Frailer
Download the DMG then you can use it on all machines etc.
As you correctly said, when you activate PitStop is tied to a machine finger print.

This is how I would do it.
Leave the macs that are being decommissioned alone at the moment.
Install PitStop 2018 (released today 24th April) and Acrobat on the new macs.
Activate them as a free 30-day trial. So you have the both the old and the new with PitStop available.
run the new machines for a few weeks to make sure everything is ok and you have copied all your old Action Lists and settings etc from the old machines.
Then when you are happy all is ok, deactivate PitStop on the two old macs, when you do this there is an option to save the license files. So save them.
Then use those license files you've saved to activate the PitStop's on the two new macs.
Job done.

Since 2018 was released today can we (we do have the maintenance agreement that we renewed at the end of March) just install 2018 over the top of 2017 and be good to go?

If you have a current maintenance contract then you should have been sent a new license key for 2018 already Joe.
You'll need that installed and running before upgrading to 2018.
The 2018 key runs 2017 and 2018 so it makes it easier.

OK I looked at the new maintenance agreement and it only has a product key for Pitstop 2017. You mentioned 2017 & 2018 uses the same key so we should be good with that right?

No Joe, you will need a 2018 key to run 2018.
You should chase your reseller for the 2018 key, they should have all been shipped a while ago.

Ugh...we ran into this issue with the release of 2017 also where the resellers either didn't have the new product keys or there were delays in them sending them out.

So the 2018 key will run 2017 & 2018 but the 2017 key won't run 2018?

I'll bet frailer's reseller sent him the 2017 key also.

It definitely won't be like the 2017 version with regards to getting you guys license keys. They should be on their way IMHO.
If you want to get on 2018 now then the best way would be just to use the in-built 30-day trial key until your official key arrives.

I'll investigate internally and find out why these are not sent out in advance so they are with you beforehand.

I've not heard of anyone that has gotten their 2018 key yet. Someone posted on printplanet that their reseller told them they did not have the product keys from Enfocus yet. Which is exactly what happened when 2017 was released. :rotf:

Thanks abc. As this is a whole new purchase, (to Maintenance), a bit puzzled as to why the license file for the previous would be relevant to this one. Would have thought they'd be standalone.
Also would have thought, (not that we'd want to), be able to have fully licensed and running on each machine. (old one on old system...it's a bought item), and new one (2017/18 Maintenance on new machine).
Happy to follow that procedure, but there's a 30 'window', it seems, which I'd not thought would have to apply.
We've got 2 print-outs for the new Maintenances, and I'd assumed all info would be there for an independent start-up, without needing 'old' license info.

I think when you got the maintenance contract you probably did an 'upgrade' from your previous license. And when you upgrade from one version of Pitstop to another the old version license is no longer good. At least that has been working for us since version 10 to 11 to 12 to 13 to 2017 and I assume 2018. For example we have an 8 user license of Pitstop 2017. With our old product key we can still run Pitstop 13 or Pitstop 2017 but only a total of 8 licenses so any combination of 13 and 2017 that adds up to no more than 8. At least that is what I think it is. Not 100% sure though.

All three of our keys arrived yesterday. Two from Enfocus and one from a reseller. Not made the switch just yet but so far much smoother than 2017.

Yes. You can change resellers but you must do it in more than ten days in advance of the end of your maintenance contract.

Approach a new reseller of your choice and they will guide you through the process.

I'm with you... I'm not getting the service so I am moving on.

Had a thought for my fellow XMF users: How do we update the built-in version of Pitstop, or is it just using some other integration for Actions internally and doesn't need updating? Also curious if I update the local version of Pitstop, will Actions made in the 2018 Version work within XMF?

Fuji will need to update XMF as the PitStop Library SDK is built into XMF itself.
The only issue you would have using PitStop 2018 created Action Lists in XMF, is if you use the newer functionality that is in 2018, but not in the XMF verison.
Using Action List Visualizer is ok as that is tool to create Action Lists, it's not part of the Action List itself.

Also be aware that the Barcodes and newer Pantone Actions won't work in XMF due to licensing limitations.

Does that all make sense?

Question...\

We edge closer to actually hooking into PSP 2018 Maint. We have to sheets printed out, dated Nov 2017. We have not activated PSP as we had ongoing (ridiculous) issue with running the 2 Adobe seats we needed before we could kick off and move from PSP 12.

Once we have run the trial versions of 2018 (DMG has been downloaded), do we activate from the license keys on the sheets, or do we need new ones?

Bear in mind, PSP 12 is on 2 iMacs which will be decommissioned. The Adobe DC installs are on 2 *new* iMacs. This may affect the ease with which we do this (Joe's bravely suggested it might...  )

I'll need to deactivate PSP 12 on the old iMacs, I guess, before we activate, (I think this was touched on earlier).

Been so long, I need to reassure myself on the Enfocus ID on each machine...been years, literally.

Thanks, in advance...

HI Frailer
If those documents were sent to you in November 2017, then they will have version 2017 licenses.
We didn't start shipping 2018 licenses until around April 2018.

If you contact the reseller you got the licenses from, they should be able to get the new ones.
Although I would have thought they would have been sent direct by Enfocus as we don't have a distributor in Australia.

As always, if you get stuck, drop me a mail or a PM.

I think it should say on the sheets the version it is for. You bought that before 2018 was released right? If so I am pretty sure it would be for the current release at time of purchase. I would contact your reseller and see what they say.

We did get it through a reseller/agent. Aquion.

Interestingly enough, it doesn't.
-order No.
-contract No.
-start date/end date. (one's August, the other's November).

Product: PitStop Pro (Single User)... on each. So not release-specific, at least on the surace.
I could be, of course, but I'd rather know up front. To risk not having PitStop at all for a 'stuff-up' interval would be like having life support switched off.

Update...

Agents have replied. It's in process, (procuring of 2018 Release keys. (x2).

My question... possibly best answered by abc, is... is it allowable/necessary to create a new Enfocus ID, as the 2018 installs will be on the new iMacs, sitting alongside the old ones with PitStop 12 on them).
The logic, I think, is that PotStop is machine-tethered, therefore a new ID is allowable...possibly necessary.

But this morning we got the 31 dat trial of 2018 going on my compadre's new iMac, plugged in to AcroDC, and with a new Enfocus ID. He is now using it.

I think it's called progress. Not, perhaps, WPA/Harry Hopkins progress, but some...

Pretty sure when you get that 2018 product key it will tied to your old Enfocus ID. And I don't think the ID is tethered to a machine specifically. I think that ID will only have two activations available no matter how many product keys you have.

This may be messy. It didn't pick up the old ID, (99% sure I had it right...been years), on the new iMac, when compadre was setting up the 31 day trial.
He punched in a new one...and is running the trial OK. We still have 2 active v12s on the old iMacs.
This, of course, may not be the case once we're out of trial territory.
I may contact him and make sure we have the correct IDs when it comes time to de-activate/activate on the 2018 Keys.

Now have 2 Trials on our 2 newer iMacs. All good so far.

Was overthinking/plutzing about Enfocus IDs and stuff. My info cheat book gave me login info that seemd irrelevant; seemingly [I just put in the work email, as before, for the Trial, did a new password as prompted, and all running.

Am assuming that the old login info, which was from '09, has since become irrelevant.

Assuming also, once we're happy, in a couple of weeks, as abc's suggested, we just 'Key in' and roll on.

I.e.,... so you don't have to go to the 3-dot button to get it to drop down again.

Sure from the 'Tools' at top left of PDF window change the drop down to 'Add'.

It will add it to the Tools sidebar on the right of the PDF window.

Tooling with Kindy Acrobat Kiddy Pro.

Anyone located 'AddMarks to trim, in EALs?

tpat once showed us how to renumber those annoying docs where the dezinger numbers 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 4, --> because their printing folios number from p 3.

I haven't found it in the 'Pages' area yet. Anyone?

Otherwise I'm bending my tiny head around it a bit.

In the action dialog search for the word 'marks'.

You mean renumbering the pages of a PDF right? Use 'Page Labels...'.

#1 --->  :homer:   Ah yes, the new 'Add' clustering. In my case, for the time being, clusterfucking.

You don't need Pitstop to create a blank page though you can do a Pitstop action 'Add page to Document' though the page isn't blank but once you create the new page you can 'select all' on the page and delete everything.

To create a new blank page with Acrobat click the 'Organize Pages' button in the right side toolbar. Under the 'Insert' button you can add a new blank page.
