what type of pantone is this?

wonderings

I received a file with 2 pantone colours that I have never seen before and not sure how they are to be used.

Pantone 105-16 C
Pantone 154-8 C

I have never seen a pantone with a dash and another number before. If I just take the first 3 digits they do not match the colour, or even colour family, that the file is. Googling it comes with a hex number thing. What is this pantone used for? I am guessing there is no direct conversion to a print pantone colour?

To quote the Pantone website:

CMYK / Four–Color Process
Pantone CMYK / 4–Color Process Guides Coated, Uncoated
(examples: PANTONE P 11-4 C, PANTONE P 69-15 U).
These guides offer an independent collection of nearly 3,000 CMYK colors that bear no relationship to the Pantone Matching System.
Pantone Process Color numbers start with the letter P followed by a one- to three-digit number, a dash, and a one- to two-digit number. The "C" suffix indicates coated stock and the "U" uncoated.

(There is no corresponding Pantone Color, it's just CMYK)

Starting to see colours like this also. Generally they come from a client who has received a quote for design and print work, who then tells us that the design component is too expensive and they know someone who has a daughter/son who can do it for a third of the price.

Generally created in either Publisher or Canva, no bleed on file, crappy lo res images, multiple versions of the same color with slightly different cmyk values, half RGB, half CMYK, type 2 mm from edge of page, nothing lining up, I could go on and on.

When we then revise the quote upon receiving the file, to account for all the extra work we have to do to make the file press ready, we are called rogues and thieves.

Sometimes it would just be better to knock back the print component, knowing all the issues that it is going to create.

Industry standard files right there.

I cringed when I started seeing ads for Canva on TV. It showed people doing online presentations with it, but you just knew what was coming.

We got people protesting the schools here claiming discrimination because they won't get vaxed and won't wear masks but want their rat kids to go infect the rest of the kids and conform to their wants and desires.

If all the kids were vaxed, I'd be down for no masks, but I don't want your dumb ass infecting my family, not only with COVID, but also ignorance and stubbornness.

These same people comply with regulations for kids with peanut allergies. I don't understand the logic.

I guarantee you, these are the Karens that use Canva, Word and Google Docs to make shit and then bitch that their commercial printer is inept because they can't use big-name, widely-used software to print their shit.

Half of America shouldn't be heard from. Which reminds me... I saw an ad on tv tonight that had me rolling. It was for some kind of nationwide dental care deal for free dental exams and treatments. There was a disclaimer, and it said something like, "Not valid in Tennessee or West Virginia." I apologize if you live in one of those two states; I'm sure they'd either bankrupt the whole deal, or provide zero customers.

Didn't see the Pfizer data that came out last month? THAT'S why people are reluctant to get vaxed. The data shows worse problems than covid and that's not even long term effects yet.

I just got another booster, my last one was in September, I'm a bit high risk
I was thinking about not getting it, but got it anyway  ;D

that said, with this omicron, vaccinated people got omicron even tho they were vaccinated
and they spread it too, it happened at my work, were all vaccinated and it spread through here.
This was when I was working from home and when I went back I wore my mask for awhile.

I think were headed for an endemic, My sister did not get vaxxed,
I'm so thankful she made it through when the virus was bad

I was waiting for data to decide and my decision now stands as a solid no. And I see why they tried to keep the data from the public for 75 years. Don't let them normalize myocarditis in kids and healthy people.

Digi, you'l love the comment I saw on another forum before Covid even got started. Somebody advocated putting all the anti-vaxxers on a big island somewhere so they can infect each other and nobody else.

Australia is a big island, we have enough nutters here without importing any more. Find somewhere else.

They are all on a big island infecting each other and infecting the vaxed. It's called North America.
