Yup. You heard that right - free tacos and beer! I had 4 tacos... one steak, one chicken, one BBQ pork and one vegetarian. They had onions and cilantro and guacamole and salsa and a variety of hot sauces. Catered by Chando's Tacos. I had a Brewery X Citra Loves Nelson IPA.

For reference, Chando competed on Food Network's Chopped show, so we're talking serious quality eats.

I would never trust the Acrobat Edit PDF function. Never trusted it.

I know your pain. When I was at Dome and used Prinergy, Prinergy NEVER saw any corrections done with the Edit PDF features, but Prinergy DID see corrections done with PitStop. However, at PIP (and here) we don't have a true RIP per se (CWS at PIP, Prisma here), so it does see the corrections.

Oddly, you can mess with page geometry on a PDF here and if you print directly to PrismaSync it will be fine, but if you impose it through PrismaPrepare, then the page geometry of the PDF comes into play; Sync ignores page geometry.

The file was supplied as a PDF and it was 5.44" x 7.62" with no bleeds, and the client wanted it 8.5" x 11" with bleeds. I was able to enlarge it and fix the page geometry and add a bleed through PDF fixups (it was all vector art, solid color blocks and text - nothing raster) and stretch out certain pages with the edit PDF tool, but the masks were throwing me; you can't adjust the mask without PitStop in Acrobat.

I originally realized that I could cut and paste the color blocks and then send-to-back, but that would have required me doing that a few hundred times, as would have editing the item in Illustrator, so I was looking for a quick fix. I know I could have made a few Parent pages in InDesign and then done a multipage import of the PDF, but again, there were several hundred pages with different colors (left and right) that would have had to have been matched up (and some of them had a white knockout in different places to create pseudo tabs).

Eventually I realized the fix I employed, and it worked. I used the compare tool in Acrobat to check the text and make sure nothing moved or got mislayered. It checked out good, so I'm done.

I am getting quotes for PitStop, but even with I might have still had issues because I'm not sure you can automate mask removal on multiple pages.

Apparently, and this is weird, the pages were mystically linked together in sections somehow. I used the, "Edit PDF," tool, selected the masked area and right-clicked. Then I selected, "Remove Artifact," and the mask was removed... but it did it on all like pages, so I only had to edit about a half dozen pages to fix the whole document. Weird, right?

Also with Pitstop there are "add bleed" optiosn that will extend the mask if the bleed content is there. If it isn't there it will flip and mirror what is there to fill the void. Takes some practice using it though.

As of now, we do not have PitStop.

I have a job I need to fix bleed on (392 pages) and the bleed is there in the file, but it's masked. I need to use a PDF Fixup to remove the masks, but can't figure it out. Is it even possible? The file originated in PDFium.

I'm finding out that a lot of the work we get through here (is banners and stickers) are 800 page plans and specs books, mostly done in CAD. We have to resize the work to 8.5x11 usually (sometimes 11x17) but this latest order came in raster instead of vector and all that's supplied is pdf. There's 860 pages of these things, and it's choking Prisma, so we need to reduce file size somehow. 

What's the best recommendation? Using the default reduce file size option, or using the optimize pdf and defining?

Speaking of the Dark Side, yesterday I was looking for something, and I came across the post where the guy called us a bunch of 12 year olds (well, it was before I joined, so he called you all a bunch of 12 year olds). I still keep my age at 12 on this forum for that reason (DCS had filled me in on the story years ago), but I noticed Joe's age changed to 69. Not sure if that's a joke or not, but I enjoy seeing everyone's age at 12.
