I don't know how many people remember the Kaleidescope app back in the old days before OSX, but I loved that little thing. I went looking this past weekend to see if anyone had resurrected it, booyah! My menus are all now happily grey instead of white.

I have a 30" monitor and I always feel like someone's trying to crisp me.

There are a few mods out here. I'm currently trying out Shapeshifter. It's shareware but if it stays trouble free I'll probably buy it. The real trick with these mods is that they do not always look or work great with adobe apps. The skinny menus often are not included with the mod and end up half of one and half the other. Plus it changes the background colors OF the palettes which can make them hard to read. This one has an exclusion feature where I can choose to turn it off for a specific application.

I like 'em, but won't allow them at work, I have to support the macs and anything that makes my job harder is a no no. But at home, er, well I stopped doing it as well because of the quirkiness you mentioned
