 :P
This would make as much sense to me as anything else!

Quote from: David on July 18, 2022, 03:52:48 PMyes, if you have changed the inks or the paper, it really needs to be re-calibrated.
there was a time (years ago) they changed the formula for the yellow ink and it screwed up the calibration for a lot of printers using those inks.
Was the P8000 calibrated with the same paper you are running on now? With an epson printer, this is extremely important.
Also, check to make sure the inks are not expired, that affects the color more than you think.
Yeah. We haven't changed anything ink/paper wise. Although, the consistency of the paper we get from Fuji seems to be nonexistent. The semigloss we use on this particular proofer not so much but the silk matte is very noticeable at times. Goes to super thin at times compared to the roll before. I did check the inks and it looks like most are actually expired (assuming the top date is the exp date on the box). This proofer doesn't get as much action since we don't do a large amount of process color work. Although, I printed direct to the proofer bypassing the RIP and it was noticeably brighter. Thinking I may have to relearn/research using our Xrite to recalibrate it.  :'(

Thanks for the replies.

We've got an EPSON P8000 that we bought 3 years ago or so. Had a fella from Fuji come in and fingerprint the proofer to a particular press using Fiery. We've begun to notice that the proofs are coming out much duller than they used to. We have a 9800 that the guy went ahead and calibrated too. It still prints much closer to what it did 3yrs ago than the P8000. He had walked me through the calibration process but that was 3 years ago and I can't remember anything from 3 days ago so I'm pretty useless in solving this. I'm wondering if this might be a an issue with the printer itself and not the rip. Hoping some of you may have had something similar occur. TIA.

CTP - CTF / Kodak Sonora Process Free Plates

Anyone have any experience with these? Head guy is wanting to discuss switching from our Fuji plates. Personally, we don't have many problems with the Fuji plates we're using and not really interested in opening up a whole new set of issues by switching. Curious as to others who have experience with Kodak Process Free ones though.TYI.

CTP - CTF / Re: Fingerprints on Plates

No auto-loader here. Hand loaded into platesetter. I've never been able to narrow it down to a certain individual either. Seems to be mostly on plates where after they've processed we have to cut down on a manual cutter. A lot of folks will steady it by pushing down on it. Maybe I should require gloves when doing that process and see if it clears up any.

Thank you all for your suggestions and advice. I certainly appreciate it.

CTP - CTF / Fingerprints on Plates

So, we use Fuji Superia LH-PJ plates here. About every 3 months or so, the production floor comes up complaining about their plates inking up fingerprints all over the place. I've tried to recreate the problem by having everyone on my shift slam their hands all over the plates pre and post imaging/processing. No joy.

I was just curious if others have had similar issues and if they found what the cause was. Really don't want my plate department to have to wear gloves all the time. And they don't either. TIA

Fujifilm XMF / Re: Auto Archive on Restore

Yup. Those boxes go back to unchecked after I restore them. Guess I need to call Fuji and see what's up. Need to bug them about a fix on the version I have anyways to be honest.

Even if the job was automatically archived/deleted the previous time, when restored it is set to manual. That's the part that is getting me. I was curious if this function worked for others that way. I have to manually check those boxes every time I restore a job regardless of how it was archived previously.

Fujifilm XMF / Auto Archive on Restore

Is there a setting I'm missing that allows the Auto Archive boxes to be checked on when restoring a job from Archive? This would be a great help since I can't seem to get a couple of people to do this when bringing jobs back online...Thanks.

6.5.1 here. Couple of nice changes but if anyone changes an impo to Flat Sheet the client locks up and you have to kill it.

Right on. The previous run looked like it was ran pretty frickin' heavy. Dots almost looked reversed out. I'll chalk it up to different pressmen running different machines differently and go about my life. Was just scrambling to find an answer since the higher ups were asking me questions I couldn't answer. Thank you for help and have a great weekend.

I had to up the screen density like 10% to get it close enough that they'd sign off on running it. Which brings right back around to what I was attempting to ask from the get go...why are those dots positioned differently when building the text?

The printed piece. I just noticed that dots building what are the letters were different in my rendered view. Wasn't sure if that was the problem or what. Guess I just never realized that if the images were positioned differently on the imposition that the dot structure would change in the text like that. Always figured it geared off the document. But if you're saying this is normal, then that's good enough for me. Thanks.

Alright. Guess I just assumed the angle changed or something. My bad. So, since the image is on a different imposition the dots will fall in position differently? Not saying it's a press problem either, but there was a big difference on the screened text. Thanks for the help. This is not really my area of expertise obviously.

Fujifilm XMF / Screen Angles

We have jobs that get shuffled from one press to another quite often. Job came off the press floor this morning because the screen density didn't match a previous run. Got to digging and it is the same file used the last 4 times we've run the job through XMF. Only thing that changed was what press it was running on. I've exhausted my limited knowledge on this, but hoping someone may have an idea. Where is the screen angle changing at? I've looked just about everywhere and can find nothing that is different between any of the press settings. Ideas?
