Title: Momentum Rip PTEK 34DI Imposition help
Post by: banjoman on September 22, 2009, 07:22:55 AM
Our pre press person left and now the boss is trying to send files to our Presstek 34 DI and can't seem to grasp how to get it positioned in the right place on the sheet using indesign. He says he applies the offset amount that is supposed to put the file in the right place but it is always wrong. I'm trying to get him to send a simple 8.5 x 11 w/t pizza flyer on 11 x 17 and he can't do it. Is there anyone who can shed some light on this as I'm the press operator and I can't help him.

We have QMDIs but iirc they're close enough. We use .375 at the gripper when we run cut sheets at size. Don't know if that will help but you can give it a shot.

Sounds to me like you need to CENTER the 8.5" x 11" with marks on the 11" x 17",

What specifically is wrong with what your getting on press? How far off are the offsets?

okay
1 put front and back on the 11 x 17 sheet the way it should look
2 insure gripper side is enough away from edge .375?
3 send job how ever.
4 if in wrong position determine how far off and measurements needed to fix.
5 reposition on sheet or make page size bigger to accommodate.

that should fix it. or from what you have go to 4.

my take on it.

The first page he sent was running off the bottom of the sheet and I measured it and it was 1/2 inch to low. He fixed it and sent it then it was cutting off the top and I didn't even bother sending it to the press so then he went through a bunch of old files until he found one we printed that was fairly recent and used it as a template which worked. I told him until he understands how to do it right we will always have problems cause he doesn't know how to get it right and doesn't understand why.  I know that the first file he sent had the adjusted amount applied to it cause it shows when I view the file as a small gray shaded line at the top of the file but when I told him how far off it was he didn't apply that amount and that is why it was moved to far.
