4th of July. The day the good ol' US declared independence from our oppressive sponsor, the UK.

A brief history: in 1492 Columbus sailed to what would later be called America. When he got here, there were already people here. He claimed it in the name of Spain under the guise of discovery.

Under that logic, I should be able to explore my neighbor's yard and claim their pool as my own because I "discovered" it.
