No snow here yet. It is worse. Freaking solid ice on trees, power lines, roads, vehicles and basically everything. Still have power for now. :-X

Does that mean you get to stay home on Snow Day?

Currently have late 2012  27" iMacs running Mojave. Catalina is the last OS that this iMac will run.

Anyone remember having any issues going from Mojave to Catalina?

Hopefully this will be the last update for these iMacs and finally they will be forced to upgrade as we will also only get 1 more update for Adobe before it will need an OS update to run.

Cheers

Just upgraded several 2012 iMacs at the end of last year to Catalina. No issues to speak of other than our Mojave users that were still using the old free version of Linotype Font Explorer were forced to abandon it.

My home iMac is a late 2013 that Apple said Catalina was the last for it. Using Open Core I am now running Monterey on it. It is running great on it.

Could you give a brief explanation of Open Core, or where to get more info? I did a quick search and not sure I was looking at the correct thing.

One thing about doing that is you need to do a clean install so make sure you have a backup to restore your data if you want to keep anything. Even at that, my first attempt failed with some kind of weird error. Powered off and ran the installer again with no issues.

just fyi about my Macintosh HD-data

I had to point to it for acrobat to use the illustrator for editing it would not let me point to Macintosh HD
ok I take that back now acro is seeing the HD

so yes I will be reinstalling OS someday soon, oh well good practice I gues
going to install on my Mac at home too

Joe

Just remember when you boot into the installer to open Disk Utility and partition the top level partition of your internal hard drive as one single 2 TB partition.
