Macintosh / Re: Now - a trashcan eGPU

There is a guy up the street with 2 G5's sitting in his yard. I know the innards are likely wrecked but I do want them to put a PC into.

When I left my print job this year the most current adobe software we had was CS6. I was also running snow leopard and had a production computer running NT...

Aren't his arms a little too shaky for that task?

Quote from: AaronH on August 27, 2018, 01:49:30 PMThats a really good idea Tracy! I'll have to keep that in mind next calendar we get. We usually do what I described which can cause some headache trying to figure out the impo.

I used to fight with calendars up until I figured out it was much easier to spin the pages needed in acrobat.

I rarely use hyperlinks in any of my posts and that bullshit drew my eye immediately.

I'm pretty sure I snagged them when they were posted up. I just have to find them. Wonder if CS2 works with the stylus too...

I am aware of the other ways but I don't like how connected windows 10 is to the mothership.

Have you used affinity? I'd rather an all in one solution.

That being said I'm downloading the free options now.

The Rest... / Adobe CC replacements
August 15, 2018, 07:06:31 AM
Since I'm no longer employed at false hopes and regret printing I no longer have access to any Adobe products. Well, legal access. I just bought a new laptop with windows 10 (sucks balls) and I would like to install something like CC for content creation. The laptop has a nifty wacom stylus that's pressure sensitive so that would be a bonus if the software supported that as well.

I basically need a replacement for PS, indy and illustrator. Are there any free options out there that can produce not utter poop files?

Quote from: pabney on July 18, 2018, 03:34:57 PMI would ask them EXACTLY where in the terms of service this is. If it is in there, they should be able to give you exactly where it is at.

The best place to hide a body is either in the EULA or the second page of google. Nobody would ever find it.

Pressroom / Re: New press
May 23, 2018, 12:52:09 PM
What you're saying is soon we won't need pressmen to run a press? Just need someone to load it?

Crap, that's another job that's going to get dumped on prepress.

But wait, if prepress is printing the job, who is one to complain to that the plates/job/screen/whatever is fucked up?

So that's how a modern printshop works? Sorry, I was stuck in 1985.

One enters, another leaves. Welcome back Eye Tech.

I hope to never have to come back but I was helping my "replacement" earlier today. I am slightly upset Sabby and I wasn't able to meet up I but I expect to be back in her area before the year is over.

I sill don't get the PC hatred in graphics. I run both and honestly, once you get the basics down they are not that much different. Things may be called something slightly different and are ni a different place but they both work well.

If you put a Mac on the front end that pretty much guarantees you're going to be the sole operator. Put a PC there and you can pawn it off on someone else. I actually did the opposite here. I didn't want the boss on the mac ever because he's cancer for computers. Well, that and I eventually want to take it home. I took all the backup drives, cloned them for when he deletes something and put it on one of the office PCs. I parked the cloned drive in a box so he can't ruin it.
