Digital Printing / Re: Envelope Printer
January 16, 2025, 10:31:16 AM
I've been using an OKI printer, with white ink, works great on 98% of envelopes.
I use a horizontal feeder, once it's set, works like a champ. I've had issues with the belts on the feeder getting slick so the env won't feed straight. I take some blanket wash from the press room and wipe it on the belts to make them tacky and it helps a ton with the feeding.

I use an external 4 TB hard drive to back up job files. When it gets full, we get another one, they are not that expensive.
We burn all archived jobs to DVD, then copy the same to the external. We use Neofinder to catalog the external so we can do a quick search.

I don't trust online/internet storage, but that's just me. I'm old and cranky.

YMMV

does anyone know of any issues with Sonoma?

mine runs great (24" iMac, M1 chip, 16gb RAM, Sonoma 14.6.1).

Most of my prepress work is through a VNC connection, even with that I thinks it's way faster than my previous Mac.

just had my external Seagate 1tb drive die, had to get a new one for Time Machine, got a Toshiba 2tb, works great (same price as the 1tb 2 years ago).

I think I have had to use Time Machine a total of 4 times in my life.
