ok, we've been having issues with our email.
Some outgoing emails either get sent to spam folders or don't get delivered.
For the most part, we are able to receive emails, until now. Now we don't get any emails since Host Gator "fixed" it.

Our ISP is Spectrum
email address come from Host Gator
named servers are with Network Solutions
and then we throw in the Google g-suite / workspace.

Who do you think would be the one to call to fix the outgoing/incoming mail issue?

did I mention this was a cluster?

Golden rocket pony to who comes up with a winnnah!

And,
any recommendations on how to get rid of this cluster and do it with someone else?

TIA

Not sure if this helps, but when something like that happens here it invariably turns out that corporate IT did something without asking or telling us. In fact, if it wasn't for our own IT... we would really have almost no problems at all.
So, do you have an IT contact / help desk / similar corporate team of buffoons that shoot themselves in the foot?
That would be my "one call"

... you know, like Sentinel 1 blocking/deleting the crucial software that runs on a certain PC because they don't know who Kodak is...
crap like that.
Functionality be damned! We have security commitments!

yeah, it's me

sad thing is I didn't do this, it was Host Gator/Network Solutions/Google

they all made changes to the setup

OMG....Hostgator and Network Solutions. :whip:

Assuming you are on shared hosting with about 400 other accounts it is very possible your IP is blacklisted on one or more spam lists because you and those other 400 accounts all have the same IP address so when one bad egg misbehaves all of the eggs are then rotten.

Go here and see if your IP/Domain is blacklisted. (I promise this link is not a rickroll  :rotf: )

host gator says it's network solutions, cause we use their named servers,
network solutions says it's google cause we have their MX records,
google says it's host gator...

thank you sir, can I have another?

I'm pretty sure it isn't Network Solutions as all they are doing is being the registrar for your domain and from there the DNS servers at Network Solutions will be pointing to your Hostgator account. Then from there is sounds like the MX records created at Hostgator have been changed to point to Google's email servers. If those MX records are not correct it is a PITA. So my guess is the problem lies with the MX records in your Hostgator email section in cPanel.

yeah, been on the line with them since yesterday.
They broke it trying to fix it, then they broke it some more...
got them to correct the mx records again this morning, now we are getting a few emails, but not a flood like I was expecting.

we'll see

I hate this shit

Even if they do get it correct now, it could still take 24 hours or more for it to make its way all across the internet. So that all the major hubs have the new records correct so they will filter mail to the correct location. The web is exactly that, one massive spider web of computers constantly communicating. Some more regularly than others.

You would be much better off never asking Hostgator to touch anything. Just do it yourself and you will be happier.

yeah, as you get older, you learn valuable life lessons along the way

don't cross the street without looking both ways
don't stick your finger in the electrical outlet
don't let host gator fix you inter webs

pretty much sums it up

Another one....
Don't install the first version of a new system upgrade or app.

(Wait until they get the bugs out in the .2 version.)
