Connecting with the IP. The computers are running Windows 7 and the servers they are connecting to are running Windows Server 2008. More specify, mounting about 4 different share points on the 1 server running Windows Server 2008

Random Technology / Network Switch to blame?
November 04, 2013, 12:18:48 PM
So after getting new computers (7 new HP's and 2 iMacs) I was saddened when after restarting any of these computers the mapped network drives fail to reconnect automatically. The PCs will show the red X next to the drive and get the message that it failed to connect. Mac does similar. Get the failed to mount drive.

Both OS's will eventually connect though. It's almost like the drives try to mount before the network card in finished initializing. Is this just the way it is? PCs are running Windows 7 and the iMac is 10.8.

I wonder if the switch is at fault here? So I went to Cisco's site to download the latest firmware and management software (because I've always left it unmanaged) and the site won't let me download anything without a service contract....  :kissass:

Any words of advise?

In Prinergy.

I tried to disconnect the J drive and let Prinergy mount the drive, no go. I then tried to map the J drive with araxi username and password, won't connect. Fun...

Every job. Hmm. Makes me think of something though. Let me see if that guy has restricted permissions.

Yeah, tried a restart of the server, tried reinstalling workshop, tried upgrading Acrobat. No dice.

They are mounted because we can just navigate to the folder and open the PDF's that way. Just won't open via Workshop. Prinergy 5.1.

Quote from: Joe on February 05, 2013, 10:25:04 PMRochester in late Feb/early March. Enjoy. Temps should be in the 80's. Leave your winter gear at home.

Mine was late April. Great weather. No snow. What's funny is I WANTED to see snow! Yeah, let the yelling begin.  But I miss it. I work in FL now but am from MN and miss that winter wonderland stuff.

tell ya what though, drove down to Lake Ontario for the hell of it and wow what a temp change! Was in a t-shirt and the temp must have dropped 20 degrees no joke! Was freezing.

I found a cool bar adventuring around. Can't remember the name now... guess it WAS a good bar.

General Prepress / Software VPN

Anyone got any experience with doing this? My Xserve has this ability but I can't get it to work. I'm running 10.7 server and went through these steps (http://macminicolo.net/lionservervpn) but nadda.

I don't have any guidance on how to setup my gateway router though.

Oh. Shoot. Yeah I'm on 5.1 not 5.2. Sorry.

I'm thinking I'm going to reinstall 10.6 and ALL my apps :(
