Forgive me...I can't figure out how to create a custom shortcut. I want to create key commands to horizontally scale type. Looking through the list of InDesign commands, I see "Normal horizontal text scale" listed in Text and Tables. I don't think that's quite what I want. Found the same query over on the Adobe forums and someone gave a smartass answer, but didn't really explain how to create the new shortcut.

Help?

Can you record it as an Action? Illy actions aren't as powerful as PS ones in my experience, but it might be a way.

Sorry gnubler I haven't time to experiment at the moment

InDesign, not Illy.

I'll repost if I figure it out.

You can create your own in ID CS2 in the "Keyboard Shortcuts" under the edit menu:

Thanks all - I'm using CS1 and my default keyboard shortcuts list doesn't list "Increase horizontal scale"...hence my search. In my Keyboard Shortcuts dialog box, I clicked "Show set..." and manually entered "Increase horizontal scale" where it's shown in the above screen shot into the .txt file that opened. I saved it, quit Indy, and...it doesn't show up in the list of commands.

Anyone else with CS1 want to attempt doing this? Maybe I did something wrong.

I don't think you can do it in CS1. The text file only gives you a list of your keyboard shortcuts. InDesign does not read them from the text file. The file it uses is not a text file that you can edit.
