I need to convert IDCSCS2  files to IllyCS2 and retain layers.
Please don't ask why.

I tried a few exports (PDF) from ID but only get 1 layer.

Any ideas?

Thanx.
Because it feels good !

How about export to EPS and then open in Illy? Or print to PS and open in Illy?

Or copy and paste?

Can't get either of those to work. All layers are flattened to 1 layer.(Not copy &paste)

What version of PDF? Try the latest version availabe to you and export that. Then rename the ".pdf" to ".ai" and give that a whirl. That should give you an unflattened ai file I would think. After all, an ai file is just a PDF in it's native format.

I tried 1.4,1.5,1.6 and no luck. There is a button on PDf export (InDesign) which says
"Create Acrobat Layers".(yes I had this on)
I think because of some transparency in the file,is why layers is not holding.

Copy and paste each individual Indy layer on a new separate Illy layer. Don't ask, BTDT. ;D

have a bash at drag and drop - you might lose some attributes - so i'd advise caution - i've never had to do this - it seems such a simple question :-[

copy paste should work but again - i think some attributes will have to be re-done - drop shadows springs to mind.

hang on - i just created a drop shadow under a box in indy and drug <lol> and dropped to illy and the shadow stayed - so give drug...err drag and drop a go.

drag and drop - a typical night out in london eh jezz...so they tell me

Coming from someone out in your neck of the woods (you carrot cruncher!) I find that a little surprising, and any way you seem to know a lot more about it than I do. You said it sounds like a night out in London, I said I'd let you know.

It's me that's scared let me tell you  :o
