H-bday Joe!
Give yourself a pay rise and have the rest of the week off.

Could they be referring to CIP4 or any adjustments made to them when they read a scanned sheet it can give density/lab readings etc.

It would give the press operator the same settings to reprint.
Of course this would only work if it is printed on the same press.

Ok I understand a bit better now.
You have to put custom text on the sheet.
I don't have xmf in front of me but there is a section where you can put custom text on the individual sheet.
One will do it for the complete job and the other for just that sheet.

From memory it is the section where you can add lines/ or custom rectangle/ square  boxes.

You set it on the sheet. You can also move the order of how they display.
Save it also as a quick preset so you. An apply easily.

From my poor memory, I haven't used it in 6 mths.
It's under workbench, then somewhere in there I think it's in the printer profile.
Make sure you save or it won't stick.

Or you can recall your previous settings and just override that printers settings. That's if you a archive of it.

John Quixley in Qld is you go to BM expert.
I can give you his number if you need.

Fujifilm XMF / Re: XMF getting stuck - freezing up?

I would go with network related. The blank  plate indicates to me that data is isn't getting through quick or reliable enough. I've seen it also happen with a bad scsi card and the plate setter spat blanks every now and then.

You could also have a database that is screwed up. I would certainly recommend running  a verify on it.

As previously said, it won't be your macs they are just a client.

I've run 2 ctp via XMF. It's every easy to choose which one you want to output to.
Are both running the same plate? Dot & resolution?
I'm pretty sure your going to need a tech to get XMF to recognise the new machine.
Curves can be done easily if you have the time. But trying to tell a boss you need half a day of press time is another thing.

I would do as Joe suggested and swap papers first.
What software are you using to output the files?
I don't believe it is XMF because same file gives different results.
You may have different margins set up for the proofer.

Don't have XMF in front of me but I know you just import the .eal.
Create your preferred preflight and export it to your desktop.
For the import, into XMF it would be done in the administration pane of Preflight if my memory is correct.

General Prepress / Re: Workflow Recommendations

Finally managed/forced to get off the hamster wheel a few months ago. Doctors orders. So doing landscape photography (mainly for myself) and social media images for a few clients.

I may get back into the crazy game in a year or two when everything has healed. (Coward/sucker punched last year and broke my neck and back.

Until then I had been using XMF for best part of 10+years.

XMF is APPE and brilliant, can do just about anything. Another component off XMF is "XMF Remote" it is an online submission and approval system. Very powerful if you want it to be or you can use it just as a dropbox.
Brilliant for magazine/book work especially. Auto page flow/mapping with Remote so take a lot of the usual repetitive steps out of the workflow, and put the pressure/onus on the client. Advertising companies I dealt with loved it.

If colour is critical have a look at "colour path organiser" also.

PDF export can be done as rendered single pages or the flat sheet what ever impo you need.
Also great for producing mockups from rendered data PDFs to digital. JDF compliant/ barcodes etc etc.

Shoot me some more specific Q's if needed. Keep in mind I'm in Aust. so instant reply probably won't happen.

And not to hijack this thread (never happens here right ) you can all follow along the photos on Insta.  @brad_aulsebrook

Without an archive of the job I don't think this will be possible. We archive all jobs here but do not archive the rendered data so we can keep it a manageable size.

Hi Aaron,

What happens if you try and take out the rule converting your colours? Looks like everything mapping to "C" currently
#13
When in your Ink Pool do you even see the CVC, CVU, or U versions? Like the screenshot attached or do you only see "C".

Here's another option. Helpful for matching colours across different mediums etc.

Fujifilm XMF / Re: Replace Color Bar Fuji XMF

Global sheet marks is the way to go. Been a while since I have had to do it but, from my poor memory Tracy, I think you have to remove the colour bar from your stripping sheet template that you currently have placed or you will end up with two colour bars.
