Quote from: Joe on April 10, 2024, 08:48:32 AMTeam Viewer won't work if it determines you are trying to login to a business. I tried it from home and it flagged the workplace I was trying to login to as a business and would not allow the connection. Not sure how they determine if it is a business or not though.
That's a good question. I was clearly working for a business, operating multiple machines at more than one location and I wasn't doing it because I was looking for a good time. Team Viewer never gave me any guff about that, but every 3-4 hours or so it seemed like I had to restart the client on my end because it'd get sluggish. I didn't have the best monitors at home, but the resolution was pretty good on my substandard setup.

General Prepress / Xerox scanner parts

Anyone know where I can get Xerox production scanner parts other than from Xerox directly? We have several W130 production scanners, and we need to AF rollers for it. It's $108 from Xerox, but I can't find anyone else who might sell this part. Not available from Amazon, OfficeDepot or Staples.

When I WFH during Covid, I used the free version of Team Viewer. I installed it on the Fiery and my workstation and of course at home. It's not perfect, but it did the trick.

Obviously you're printing masters for a K plate (spot color) switchout?

Again, I'd start with the smallest quantity as a 1-up and math the rest to match. If you have any that are the same quantities, I'd probably gang those together. Hopefully they didn't do something stupid like 500 of this guy and 400 of that guy... in that case, you'd be better off not wasting press time and toss 100 cards.

I do not know of any calculator out there, but if I were doing that job, I'd figure out which card has the lowest quantity and start with it as a 1-up and work the other quantities around it... however, with automation being what it is, I might be inclined to just have 22 imposed files and call it a day. A good bindery guy can slipsheet and batch cut the stack and separate when boxing.

I presume this is digital and not offset.

Once the cobwebs were cleared out, I remembered how to do it.

or using prepress fixups?
Quote from: Joe on April 05, 2024, 04:19:50 PMSo do want to shrink the content too or just change the page boxes? The Acrobat cropping too can change the page boxes. Not sure if there is an Acrobat action for that though. If you need to also reduce the content not sure you can do it with just Acrobat. Pitstop can do it though.
I have some site plans that are 34x22 but we need the files to be 17x11. I need to create an action or create a prepress fixup to reduce it.

I'm so rusty. Can anyone help me create an action in Acrobat that will take a 34x22 document and reduce it down to 17x11 (changing the page geometry to reflect that) by NOT using the Print dialogue?

Digital Printing / Re: Prisma

Conversely the shop I worked at when I moved up to Sac from the Bay had a Scitex RIP. We used Preps (when it was Creo) to impose our files before sending to a Lotem.

Yeah... I never heard of Scitex Prisma until I started trying to research Canon PrismaSync.

Prepress News / Re: Free Imposition Software
April 05, 2024, 09:33:47 AM
I couldn't get the form to work (on my iPad). The button did nothing.

It says to install the app from the Windows store and only the license number will come via email. Is the imposition software exclusive only for packaging? Or will it work for digital?

Looking for something like Printsmith but cheaper. Any suggestions?
