I'm curious if see your paper caliper/thickness on your current job ticket from your PMIS?

I have changed printing companies, and our current system (AVANTI CLASSIC) does not have this variable for reporting ---but they will add it for us....for a TON of money!

Reworking the prepress job ticket, and I WANT this information for SHINGLING....(seems like a good piece of information for any PMIS to pass along to your Job Workflow?)

Simply just looking if someone has the 5.3.1 or 5.3.3 WINDOWS installers for this?   (KODAK does not have it....)

When I inquired to the Kodak Partner Place...I was saddened the OLD VERSION INSTALLERS were not to be found on their site, Kodak 'essentially' told me PISS OFF, version 6 and earlier are EOL and we no longer allow you to get the old SW. "We can put you in touch with a Sales Rep to talk about upgrade options...."  FFS!, I have a process that works GREAT on 5.3....I DO NOT NEED or WANT to upgrade it.

Shit, I have the damn dongle and license materials...just the CPU took a dump and I can only find my 5.2 disk...I can get most from backups, but would rather have the 5.3.x installers.
I'm working for a company that DID NOT archive the 'new' installers downloaded a decade ago...They machine it was running on was almost old enough to buy me a drink!

looking to add barcode data in the bleed area of certain pages...
was thinking of creating PDFs of the various barcodes to PLACE in the pdf margin via pitstop...and if pitstop had a generator that'd be even better  (code39)

If the Fiery server is upgraded to Windows 10, it will not operate and the system will have to be rebuilt from original software disks or backup images.

Microsoft announced that a Windows 10 upgrade can be performed through Windows Updates starting July 29th. A "Get Windows 10" notification may pop up on your Fiery server asking you to upgrade to Windows 10. Please dismiss the notification.

EFI has created a Fiery patch, based on a solution from Microsoft, which disables the pop-up and prevents the Fiery server from being upgraded to Windows 10.

You can get the patch from your Fiery supplier or download it from fiery.efi.com/disable-windows10.

Note: EFI strongly recommends that you perform a full backup of the system image on a regular basis. In the event of an accidental Windows 10 update, the backup image can be used to restore the Fiery server so it will operate normally.

Just curious if folks with digital printers ever see the need to TRAP a file for printing (spreads, chokes).
I recently had a digital print job with RED TEXT (100m100y) printing over a greyscale image, and I had leaks a the bottom edge of type. I turned on auto-trapping in my Fiery properties, but did not see improvement.

Very familiar with trapping for offset jobs, but for digital print I have only ever needed to adjust black overprint settings...till this job.
Maybe this is a sign that my digital press needs some service/adjustment? or in certain situations you will just have this? 

Bossman wants to try printing on a synthetic stock on our Epson 9880 or Canon iPF8400s.
I have personally never used other stocks than coated paper on these devices, as we are using them primarily for color managed pre-press proofing only.

My question to those with experience...
A. Is this possible on these engines, knowing that they are not solvent or UV printers...just using "Aqueous?" pigmented inks?
B. If A is possible, do you have a recommendation for a stock to try?
C. If you gave answer to B, can you print both sides of this stock?
D. If any of this is possible...would you say this would be a water-resistant print?...say something hanging outdoors, but covered by an awning, little direct sun, and occasional rain spray (or what would you say about the durability of such a print?)

I'm asking 'cause I don't know, please feel free to post candidly....thanks!
(my gut tells me that these aren't the devices for this type of print....but...)

Getting a few MINI's for some csr's.
Looking for a suggestion for 23" or 24" monitors (DVI and VGA would be nice...but DVI for sure).
Not for anything critical, just basic office monitor with a crisp display, and a manufacturer with a decent reputation...
I have used DELLs in the past, and think that still a good option for us...seem to hold up rather well, and at a good pricepoint.
(no, I'm not spending $1000 for a thunderbolt display....thinking $150-$200 range)

HP5500 Designjet 42" (Q1251A) Wide Format Plotter w/DoubleProof attachment.

This is a 6c plotter using HP DYE based inks.
It was used as a double-sided imposition plotter and used a network interface with a Rampage RPD for a controller. The Rampage component is NOT for sale.

This unit comes with DoubleProof software and a Dongle for using with other workflows (the software and dongle were NEVER installed or used as it wasn't needed for the Rampage RPD configuration)

This Plotter is in working condition and includes these supplies:
-Current loaded inks (680ml cartridges) at about 50% remaining.
-Also, have new OEM 680ml tanks for C,Lc, Y, K, 2 Magentas and a new C printhead and cleaner.
-1 Extra Spool - 42" with 2" and 3" core adaptors
-Semi used maintenance kit.

Ok,
So I have a 276 page PB catalog to do. (don't normally do projects with that many pages here...)
Supplied in 25-30 documents...
Thought I'd use the Indesign BOOK feature to add all these docs together in the list and export a PDF.
Problem is that when it comes to corrections, I don't want/need to output the entire catalog again to PDF. (the BOOK feature doesn't give you an option....ALL or Nothing AFAIK..)
My thought is that when corrections are made, I'll export that page from the individual document...then replace that page in my 276 PDF with acrobat...then register the PDF again just choosing the page or range I need (just to keep the name correct for FPOs and Impo stuff.)

Any tips for a large page count job in indesign (CS5) and exporting for Rampage? Just beginning this project...so OPEN to any ideas?

We are out on the Cyan tank, but would like to continue printing (sans that tank) till we get a replacement.

Was planning on updating our Tape Archiving System from an AIT2-Turbo to a higher capacity drive like AIT-5...

anyhow, have 10+ years of jobs on AIT...not worried about that...just wondering WHAT the current alternative tape mechanisms are that you use/like so I can plan for the replacement. (using retrospect 6 presently)

Hard Disk archiving is one option, but I'd need redundant systems to do that, as opposed to adding extra tapes.

Have an Epson Stylus Pro 9880 w/ the 220ml tanks (8 total)
I have been boxing the empties (24 at a time) and shipping them to Epson in CA as part of their recycling program...they take them for FREE but I need to ship them at my expense (from OH)....about $20.

Looking for other alternative/disposal resources for these as my BOSS doesn't want to pay the shipping anymore on these....any ideas that you have actually used?

...I know the cost to us for the current method is less than $1 ship a cart to recycle on a $100 cartridge, but the bean-counters are squeezin again...
