I have been transitioning art department in our publishing company to macs from pc's. DCS turned me on to an excellent free font management program for them to use... http://fex.linotype.com/download/mac/FontExplorerX123.dmg/ (http://fex.linotype.com/download/mac/FontExplorerX123.dmg/).
It did an excellent job of converting all of their pc font library over except for multiple masters. I spent quite some time searching for a free solution, everything I found was commercial varying in price from $100 to $1000. Then I stumbled upon this... http://onlinefontconverter.com/ (http://onlinefontconverter.com/). It's free, I tested it and it works. Enjoy.
P.S. It zips the converted font(s) and osx's built-in zip utility won't expand them, you have to use free Stuffit Expander to unzip them.
We had to get TransType some time back. It was the only one that worked reliably for PC to Mac fonts, as far as I could tell at the time.
Meantime, that customer's disappeared.
That site would be a boon..TransType pretty much have a monopoly. I guess as the world drifts to OTF...less of a problem. But conversion crops up when you least expect/want it to.
..have "Stickied" under "Fonts".
mailhouse wants me to convert opentype fonts to true type.
why would they want that? just curious
There are some older applications that don't work well with OpenType fonts or require True Type fonts fonts would be my guess.
