General Prepress / Re: Who's busy?

We can't complain. Our biggest client gives us some work almost everyday. 100 books there, 50 books here and so on. Then, there are the smaller clients with less, but better paid work. And last but not least the clients who just walk in and want us to just quickly print one book or a box of business cards, which is paid best.

It's all about standards. According to the standard, the color looks in 5k like whatever. But in real life, people don't have the equipment to see the same, what the printer or the art director see in their 5k booth. I think the best would be to just use normal light. In that case you can be pretty sure that if something looks good in the shop, it looks good in the hands of most clients, too.

Definitely. Or did you ever hear a salesman say: "Well, if our product would not exist, nobody would miss it and actually it's completely useless anyway but would you still consider buying one?"

I've heard it said that there are plenty of things that look great under 5k light might still look terrible under normal light...

Not really sure about what's the problem with my TV, but as long as I can get it somehow to work I'm satisfied already. It's just like another day at work.

I have experienced more issues with VLC than with Media Player so I somehow miss it. But I'm not a frequent user, anyway. I just use it to watch a DVD from time to time or listen to some music and that's it.

Recently got my laptop upgraded to 10. If I connect it to the TV via HDMI, the only option to see anything on the TV screen is "Extended desktop". If I want to have the same picture both on the laptop screen as well as on the TV, the TV shows "Invalid Signal".

By the way, who is the brainiac that decided to make the media player unusable for Win 10? Now you only have two options: 1. You download FLV-player or any other kind of free stuff, or 2. Go to their new store and pay for their new player. I guess, that is where they want you to go. Give you the free update and let you pay for every little piece of software afterwards.

One of the good things about 10 is that you can change the system language, so now even my wife can use my computer without problems.

Maybe it's a stupid question, but why don't you do the color remapping with Acrobat/Pitstop? Is it faster using the workflow?

We have a Konica C7000 with the integrated Konica IC-601 RIP. No color management here, so I cannot tell you much about that, but as far as I know the IC-601 is MUCH cheaper than the Fiery or Creo, as it is the basic RIP for the machine. And it works quite stable, by the way.

You can try converting to a profile called "IsoNewspaper26v4.icc". Maximum total ink coverage is 240%.

Our presses are all standing against the wall and while the C7000 has less problems, the 1051 frequently kind of overheats. The techs keep saying it's because there's too little air circulation at the back of the machine. A/C is blowing the entire day.  Our machines are not Colorado managed.

Andrew, I've just joined the LinkedIn group. But either I'm blind or there is no link for the June webinar yet...

Enfocus / Pitstop June Webinar
June 05, 2015, 08:42:01 PM
I've been busy with moving home these days and so I've somehow overslept to register for the June Webinar...  :banghead:

Could anybody give me a download link for it?

Thanks in advance!
