My old Sony is the same. Got a little bit laggy these days, so I need to set it up new anyway. I'll give Windows 10 a shot, too. Most important thing is to backup all the files before upgrading.

Windows / Windows 7/8 can upgrade to 10 for free
June 04, 2015, 10:27:52 PM
I guess, most of the Windows users here have noticed it already, since there is a notification icon popping up in the task bar, but just in case, you didn't notice: If you register now, you can upgrade your existing Win 7/8 system to Win 10 as soon as it is available. And that for free.

Adobe Acrobat / Re: Recalcitrant Helvetica
June 04, 2015, 09:31:43 PM
The Futura fonts are used for the informations in the lower part of the proof, but they won't show up in the preflight as non-embedded. Other font issues are just like Joe said the Helvetica Compressed (behind the word "Design") and the phantom numbers you've described above already.
My old Acrobat 8 as well as Acrobat Reader DC don't show any atomic region lines.

XMF doesn't proceed with the file if fonts are not embedded? That's kinda cool, might save you some trouble...

Edit: This post took way too long to upload... It was supposed to be somewhat the last one on page 1... Never mind.

Most of the stuff we print is created in MS Office, so I know plenty of ways how to not use it... When creating a new Word document, for example, 80% of the clients are already going to fail to set up a proper page size. Needless to mention the more advanced features.
#35
If your clients do so, they probably use space instead of tab, too?

Actually nobody can be as bad in shooting as the bad guys... They're firing at least a thousand rounds with a machine gun, but not a single bullet hits the target.

No blood, but I remember Face regularly got his teeth knocked out... And the bad guys regularly got their eyes blacked.

Oh right I forgot here's a bunch of 12-year-olds...  :rotf:

The amazing thing about these series was that no matter how many bullets they've fired, nobody ever got killed. The good side would always win and the bad side would always get their ass kicked. Life should always be like this.

For everybody who didn't watch the A-Team and wants to make up this incredibly huge gap of knowledge, here you go:  :cane:

"I love it when a plan comes together!"

Ear, how old are you? We should be pretty much the same age, I've watched all those series during my years at Elementary School, too.

Quote from: Ear on May 22, 2015, 01:40:40 PMI remember, in 4th grade, after school.... The Fall Guy was on at 3:00 followed by He-Man and The Master's of The Universe. After the news, it would be Dukes of Hazard, Knight Rider, A-Team, Airwolf, etc... depending on what night it was.

A-Team, Knight Rider, Airwolf... They are the heroes of my childhood!
"B.A., take this Cola can and build me a tank!" - "OK Hannibal, no problem!" Cool days back then.

Yesterday they've introduced a TV that bends itself depending on what kind of things you watch. It's crazy if you think about that a few years ago the TV was black and white and you had the choice between two channels...

That's exactly what I'm going to do. But I need to say, usually Acro 8 is not doing too bad, yesterday was the first time I've experienced that kind of issue.
I guess the boss is going to update as soon as there is a cracked version of Acro 10 or 11 out there.  :banghead:

Rainbows and Unicorns, yeah, I'm working at Shangri-La printing. :sarcasm:

You can try to adjust a tracking of let's say +/-5, sometimes this might extend or shrink the text enough to make space for another point to fit in or let the gap between the text and the point become smaller.

Quote from: Farabomb on May 21, 2015, 06:11:19 AMBut think of all the money he is saving by having jobs held up and driving his workers nuts and not upgrading the software that makes him money.
The boss thinks like: "If our software doesn't meet customers requirements, they need to save their files according to the version we have or make it a PDF. If they don't want to do so, they can try to find a different shop with better software, probably without much luck. If a job cannot be done in time due to computer or machine problems, we'll call the client to come a bit later to fetch it. If my workers are getting pissed because of crappy equipment, they are free to leave and find a new job. Everybody can be replaced and there are plenty of people out there who would like to work with my old software. In that case maybe I could even find somebody willing to work for less money."

Yeah, I just downloaded the Acrobat Reader DC and tried it, looks like it should. So the problem is Acro 8. Or, let me say, problem is the boss who doesn't want to spend any money to upgrade anything.

Thanks again for your help, Joe!

Oh, this is creepy. Because my computer (and all the other computers around here) shows the "Imposed_PDF" just the way you see it on the screenshot - without the colored remarks. Your screenshot shows the PDF is actually imposed properly. I've just placed the imposed file into Indy and yes, it looks good there, too.

I guess it's just a problem between Acrobat 8 and Quite Imposing.

But now I understand why you all didn't see what's wrong! Sorry guys... But thanks to everybody for your help!
