i wish it was different paper. it is the same paper pulling from the same drawer.
10 pages
first 8 pages should staple upper left
page 9 and 10 should not staple ( I call them Chapter Starts for this to happen)

Printer Resets itself for 27 second before the 2 page chapter start sheets come out.

If i print the first 8 pages should staple upper left and then print page 9 and 10 and staple them i get no slow down.

Both have a Fiery front end. I need to find a software patch to make the finisher not pause between chapters.

changing it doesn't help. it seems like the machine shuts off the stapler then prints the 2 sheest then turns the stapler on again between sets

Digital Printing / Ricoh 901 with Fiery
November 22, 2013, 03:30:22 PM
I have a an eight page job that staple and requires a single unstapled page as page 9.
On my Xerox 260 i could tell it chapter start 9 and it would print out 100 no pause.

both are using a Fiery front end.

My new Ricoh is pausing between the stapled sheets and the page 9 insert.

Anyone else have this issue. Maybe a fix?

option 2.
As a former Pressman, it was my job to make the color right across the sheet. An even fountain all the way across is so much easier than trying to have 1 section heavy and the section next to it light. only printed 20 years but that would be my take on it. It is how I would send it to my pressman when I was sending them Jobs to print. even coverage across the sheet is always the best..

I was in shock last night. I talked with designer and It may come down to them deleting "asset" layer (images on the Shell) Then us printing the PMS 3005 bar in Blue using our Docutech Highlight Color. I so hope they like the blue. It isn't perfect but it should be good for an item most people are going to put in the trash anyways.

yes that is the case. We are never busy.

To me the solution is delete layer then delete PMS color and replace with Black save file. but they want to do little as possible because they are busy.

Hi David,

Currently we have our marketing department sending us files to print on shells.
They want to send us files that the designers could just send to us and we can print in Black only.
They have images on a separate layer they don't use for our process because they are on the shells.
they have a solid bar header on grids they build as a Spot PMS 3005 they currently convert to Black in indesign.

They want Header in Black (not a gray scale conversion) and no images.

the image layer I am not so interested in because I am set but I want to set up a script that would delete layer and convert color all in Indesign.

Hope that makes sense. :)

I am so clueless, but how do you create a script that could delete a layer then convert a spot color to Black. Any suggestions as to a program that might accomplish this with a simple GUI.

thanks

Mike

So being able to see how it folds in your head? I guess a little more work but not much different. thank you all. I was worried if I had to go to find a job that i was limited. I have confidence my mind is so f'd from prepress that 1 more added screwing won't hurt. :)

CTP - CTF / Re: Coated vs. Uncoated curves
July 07, 2011, 08:16:08 AM
I did this once.
Made plates lin
Set up linear test plate with screens set up along each ink key. 2% 5% 10% 25 30 40 50 60 75 80 90 95 98 100%
Had press man run to density standard they liked. (have to please them a little. but obviously told them run a tad stronger.)
I took dot gain readings for uncoated and coated (they changed density reading for each stock)
My goal was:
18% for Black at the 50
16% for the Cyan at the 50
15% for both Magenta and Yellow.

I applied my adjustment curve for coated and uncoated for each color. done everything looked great till the sold all the equipment. :)

As for having everything perfect on press... who has a press that changes blankets everyday.

I have been playing prepress and no plans on leaving current job. But... a lot of the time i see anything to do with prepress jobs, they are looking for a packaging prepress person. What is the challenge of a packaging prepress person vs. your standard prepress operator.

thanks
