Happy Friday!! I just have a "shot in the dark" kind of question. I've done a little bit of research outside of this site, but not a whole lot. Never did find what I was looking for. Anyway, I was just wondering if any of fellow Prinergy users have heard of any mobile device apps for dropping plates yet? I'm on Prinergy 5.1, Preps 5 (expecting to upgrade to Preps 6 soon....I'm not afraid of it, bring it on!). Sometimes though, it would be nice to have the "in the office or out of the office" option and if our pressroom needed a plate remake, it could be dropped from this fancy HTC Evo phone I have. We do have full time platemakers here, and sure you'd think it be easy to get them to drop a plate. However, they are just platemakers and apparently not to be trusted rummaging around in prinergy. Anybody hear of anything like this yet? I assume the technology is out there somewhere or at least in the works and of-course my friends here are so smart that one of you surely knows the answer to this. Thanks and have a Great Weekend!

You can try android VNC - not going to be smooth. Definitely frustrating on the small screen. Don't know of any native mobile apps for this though, anyone?

Have you tried installing LogMeIn on a computer that has workshop and then accessing it from your phone via LogMeIn Rescue+Mobile - Remote Support for Smartphones.

Haven't tried it but it might work.

I will give it a shot! I'll let you know in a little bit how it works out.
Thank you!

I was just talking to a friend about this exact same thing. I told him exactly Joe's advice but like him I have never tried it. I normally have my netbook with me so instead of getting pissed at my phone I just use that and log in with log me in.

we use timbuk2 and supposedly I have an account, but since there's no deal on a minimum payment for me working remotely, I'm not inclined to even install it on my laptop at home. I don't work for free, just very cheap.

my old gig paid 2 hours minimum, no matter how short, or how many times, each incident was 2 hours. God I miss that place, why did I get myself canned?

they used to do that here as well, but, as the economy tanked, so did the "call in" weekends.

but, if I were to log in remotely, I would use LogMeIn, I have it here on several PC's and I like the way it looks/works over RDP or VNC.

Kinda a half dozen of one, 6 of the other, whatever works for you.

I don't work for free either but they aren't generous enough to give me 2 hours no matter how long it takes. I just tell them how long it takes and they add it to my time for that week. Never had a problem with them paying me as they appreciate the fact they get something fixed immediately instead of waiting for an hour for me to come back and I ain't driving back 35 miles to work 5 minutes. If I drive back I stay at least 4 hours and fill the time with something else.

I remember my old World Color days. If you got called in you got 4 hours pay and if it only took you 5 minutes to fix you could leave and you still got payed for 4 hours. They payed for our health insurance too and the deductible was $100 per year for a family. Ahhhh...the good old days.....
