If anyone has any interest in either picking up these two printers or paying for shipping let me know. We have a Canon W8200 44" 6 color printer and a Canon iPF 8000 44" 12 color printer you can have. Neither work at the moment. I know the iPF 8000 needs new printheads (2 of them). A pair is around $600. The printer worked fine when the print heads went out. The other one I am pretty sure just needs some maintenance. It is not printing now and I'm fairly certain it needs the coded film strip replaced. That is what we had to do when we ran into this problem before. Both printers, when they last worked, printed good. We had them calibrated at one time and ran our proofs on end rolls from the presses. Let me know soon if you have any interest, otherwise they are headed to the recycling center in a few days if no one wants them.

I'll check. A few years ago the owner here bought two "Agfa" proofers from a shop that went out of business. I couldn't get either of them running. We eventually dumped them. This is something the owner here likes to do.  :wtf:

Sherpas? they work better as boat anchors.

I was responding to digi and the mystery AGFA proofers.

DCS, your issue may have something to do with all the squirming the sales slime do when you're trying to "relocate" them.

Maybe, but Sherpas are pretty cumbersome in a boat ride. When I finally did get it out in the water, it kinda just sat there. It wasn't until I tied a Puke to it that it actually sunk. Lesson here: Pukes make excellent boat anchors. All the pennies in their pockets.

Next time I go out, I'll crack one open. We'll see if that's actually true.

No mystery. They were Sherpas. I tried to unload them once here: https://www.b4print.com/index.php?topic=4633.0

You have to take the ink cartridges out. It's the air in the pouch that makes it float.

Hey Digi, these proofers are already gone. Someone locally picked them up today before I got in to work.
