Monday thru Friday - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
No more Preps Headaches. I don't have to worry about pagination or creeping or shingling or bottling . . . etc.
Just lay stuff out in Indesign, save out a pdf and send it through the rip to the Screen Room.
Pretty Nice Gig.

Sure, but we just opened up a job that uses PMS 631 and when we try to add that swatch, we get a Violet 631.?

So I started a new job in October at a local Screen Printing Company.
We have been using Ill CS6 since I started here. Today we noticed spot colors are showing up as book colors and when we convert them to CMYK, we get goofy formulas like a file done in RGB and then Converted to CMYK. :homer:

I think Adobe and Pantone may have opened up a big cluster f@#k with this one.
Anybody?

Thanks,
Lumpy

Digi,
The "Output" tab screenshot is what I'm looking for.
Thanks.

Hey Stiv,
The PDFs from the customer are being ripped without trapping. Would it be possible for everyone to post screenshots of their ripping profiles for the PDFs and also the profile for ripping the sigs, mainly the area that shows the destination folder path name? The reason I'm asking this is I went to his shop and they have Rampage setup to send the files  to " \ NO WHERE ". That is the actual path. I checked, and there is no folder titled, "NO WHERE". Shouldn't these be going to the RSI VOL?

Quote from: DigiCorn on March 06, 2012, 08:52:15 PMAt home now... but in Rampage you create an impo queue. In that queue, turn trap off. I'll post a screen shot tomorrow sometime.
Exactly.

But is it - "Hey Stiv, he's claiming his impo profile isn't trapping.", or "When the impo file gets done ripping it is applying unneccesary trapping."

I hope he'll figure it out soon enough.

Edit: Rampage 10.5? Does that version even have a PDF RIP profile?

Yep, it has a PDF rip profile.

Hey Joe, yeah I felt the flie extension wouldn't affect it.
Hey Stiv, he's claiming his impo profile isn't trapping. On a side note, he has Presswise and everything works fine running thru that.
Hey Ear, I believe he said ROOM workflow. BTW, Hapy belated B-Day again.

Hey everybody,
I have a buddy who works at a print shop and he is ripping PDFs then dropping the fops into his Preps job. He then prints the impo file which, btw is saving out of Preps with an .eps suffix not .sig. When the impo file gets done ripping it is applying unneccesary trapping. Is there a way in Preps to change the suffix to .sig not .eps? If doing this do you think that might solve the problem? I've been out of work for a couple months now so the old prepress noodle is getting a little fuzzy. I appreciate any help we can give him.
Peace,
Lumpy

Quote from: Lumpy on December 09, 2011, 01:03:11 PMYeah, I kinda agree with D. We just got burned on this one. What sucks is the person who designed the piece, was using iStock images.
2 of them are LoRez, but one of them is reduced enough in InDesign that it shouldn't be a problem, but the questionable one was enlarged.
Shouldn't the designer be responsible maybe just a little?

yepper, it was their idea to use a small image and enlarge it. If they don't know enough to know what they are doing when they built the file, then how do they know it's low res on the press sheet?

dumbasses
Yeah, just try and argue this with the owners. Life sucks and then you die. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Does anybody use Flightcheck?
I've gotten too used to double checking things when I open InDesign docs (or Quack).
Had a job on press we're running for a small printshop that couldn't run the job, so they gave us the files.
Well, a couple photos placed were lo-rez and didn't get caught until the press OK.
Customer says to our salesman,"why don't you have Flightcheck, it only costs $100?"
wtf?
