The desing technique is accomplished with "custom brushes" in Illy and can be found here (http://www.illustrator-brushes.com/illustrator-brushes.htm), here (http://websitetips.com/graphics/illustrator/brushes/), and mostly here (http://createsk8.com/2007/free-illustrator-brushes-updated-sick-brush-kit/) along with others(just google "free custom brushes for Illustrator")..
