I have a co-worker who is opening pdf files in Acrobat 8 Pro on Mac OS 10.4.11 and when she opens them the file opens and then within 20-30 seconds the entire pdf turns to a lighter shade of gray than it was when she first opens it.  I have checked this file with PitStop and find that the original she is opening is indeed 100% black text but after she opens and saves the file it is 67% gray.  Any idea what is going on?  Is it executing some sort of preflight upon opening?  If I open these files on my Mac this does not happen.  It is only her Mac and only in version 8.  Any thoughts?  Thanks for your help.

Joe

Sounds like a color management thing. Turn it off in Acrobat (and Pitstop if she has it) and see if that solves the problem. Or change it to a different profile that does not cause these unwanted changes.

That might be it.  I will check tomorrow when I get to work.  Thanks.

KappAdv

OK, that's not it.  That would only effect how it appears on the monitor.  This is actually changing the text, photos, etc. to a different shade of black.  Very puzzled here.

Joe

Oh no, color management will carry over into the file.
