There is also Metrix out there. The guys behind it were the original programmers of Preps back in the day. I haven't used it, but have looked at. And it looks pretty good. The shop where I work is a Kodak shop. Workshop and Preps.

Here's a link to Metrix's info: http://www.efi.com/products/productivity-software/imposition-layout/efi-metrix-planning-and-imposition/overview/

That's the key right there. Change the "any" to "all" should do what you need.

Now that you mention AMD, I read an article about AMD yesterday, and that they were a good option to Intel.

And now the article today about Windows bricking the AMD processors.  :poohitfan  Not a good day to be in tech. Wait...scratch that, it's a GREAT day to be in tech.  It's a little something I like to call "Job Security". YEAH!! :mademyday:

Full install update and before full on use. We have the older base that is HUGE! But with 2 new Canon iPF8400SEs. Overall it is quite impressive. How it is setup and operates is quite interesting and clever. The software is pretty easy to get around and figure out (for the most part, but not everything). Some parts of it, seem a bit dated even for the current version. I can see paper waste being an issue if one is not careful, but time will tell for our situation and setup. I will give you more details after some usage.

Well, I have an update. The powers that be decided to go with IMPOProofer, and it is being installed as I type now. I will update later with more info, when I have. First impression, is that it seems to take up a huge amount of floor space, from what we were told. But we will see.

Fujifilm XMF / Re: XMF compatible proofer

Quote from: DCurry on November 30, 2017, 10:07:13 AMI used to make backed-up proofs, too, but instead of mc hristel's method I would glue a small item (a flat Lego worked great) to the Epson where the white paper alignment line is and when I loaded a sheet I would make sure it butted up against the Lego. Print one side, then flip the sheet and re-load (again, butt up against the Lego) and print the second side.

Using this method it was important to accurately enter the sheet width into the rip (we used ORIS Color Tuner at the time). We'd have to tweak the width number a bit each time we opened a new box of paper, but for the most part our backups were within 1/16".

We do the same here. We have GMG and Fiery pushing our Epson 9900s, but are looking for a better and faster option. We are looking into the IMPOProofer or possibly the DJet. Thanks Tracy - the Ninja Master for the heads up on this thread. Very helpful.

We are looking at replacing out Epson Stylus Pro 9900 that we use for our IMPO book proofer, which we load cut sheets into to mimic the press sheets. It's getting old :old:, and lines ( which we all know means a new head at this point, too many cleanings and still not fixed ). It's been out of warranty for almost 3 years, so time for a new one.

But since workload has increased so much, it's finally time to look at the two sided options. A couple we've heard of are DJet, and IMPOProofer.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Kodak Systems / Re: RBA - What has it done for you?
April 04, 2017, 11:00:17 AM
We use RBA for a fair amount of jobs, but not as much as I would like. Heading to GUA this year, so hopefully I will make use of it more. Using RBA for archiving is way over kill for the money. We/I have done some programming for just specific jobs only, that happen on a regular basis. That is where the product shines. For example,  One time type of job comes in a couple of times a year, and it includes about 10 different jobs, all about the same. The RBA will RIP the files put them in layouts print out laser proofs of single page PDFs, and of the IMPOs. And then also enable the job in Insite and notify the customer that they need to approve the pages. And then once we plate the job, it does a few other things behind the scenes. I also use RBA tied in with AppleScript on the Mac, and Batch scripting on the PC to quite a few other functions that Prinergy can not do by itself.

It's like any other tool. It's only really good, if you know how to use it, and what to use it for. And this tool is really hard to quantify.

Hope this helps.
