Quote from: gnubler on October 28, 2009, 01:58:49 PMAs you can see by this example of a photo I traced of "some guy", Auto Trace in CS1 does a crap job and in fact makes more of a mess than if you just drew with the pen tool.

That's actually kinda cool looking. Definite improvement.

Speed doesn't kill, rapidly becoming stationary is the problem

I'd rather have stories told than be telling stories of what I could have done.

these are out of VM, i dont even fool with live trace on complex images..

I think vector magic does the exact same thing as live trace, you just don't have controls to play with, right? I always get the same quality when I use VM.

im running the desktop version, not the online tool. theres a ton of adjustments in there, but i usually stick with the 'auto' settings, they work pretty good as-is.

VM seems to get better tracing results than live trace for me, especially with small type. i couldnt get live trace to get me near the same result as VM, but that may just be because i dont fool with live trace that much..

A couple of years ago, I was playing around with Inkscape. Anyone use it?

I was MORE than surprised by the live trace function in that program. Bested Illustrator in every image I tried.

Good to know, Youston. I installed Inkscape on my Mac quite some time ago and...never used it. I always open Illy out of bad habit.

So,  :drunk3: i send the job to the rip with live transparecy (v 1.7 or whatever) and it craps out with a memory error.
