Change an Apple ID

I have not done this yet and was wondering if any of you guys have tried this.
We have Macs here that have some of the software installed using an Apple ID of a person that no longer works here.
Is it possible to "reassign" the software to another Apple ID?
Or, do I have to uninstall and re-install with another Apple ID?

I have that issue too, only the guy works here; he's just an asshole and unhelpful.

You can still use the apps. You just won't be able to update them without logging in with his credentials.

Pretty sure it is permanently locked to that Apple ID. Did he purchase the apps with a company created Apple ID or a personal one? If you have access to the account I would just keep the account and continue to use it. Any new purchases make with a generic Apple ID. I know I have 2 different Apple ID's on my work computer (personal and work one).

No need to worry about installers for the Apple App store, it is all there.

I wish I could get the Mac from wanting to update the OS every frikken day.
I don't want to update the OS for a reason, leave me alone, thankyouverymuch.
You should be able to just say "No" and be done with it.

yeah, I've updated a few using his login. The bitch is, he keeps changing his password. I have access to his work email, so I can reset it, but then he can also log into his email and change it back (he's the ex IT here)

If he no longer works there why does he have access to any of your tech? You own his account if it is under the company domain. If he is accessing when he is not supposed to I would get a lawyer or police involved. Or is this his own personal email like a gmail account?

I agree with Joe, change his password. And since he "was" the IT guy, once you change his email password, I would change yours too. Just to be safe. By the sounds of it, he might not be happy with it and might want to strike back if he can.

If it's his personal account he used then you won't be able to change it. You can't merge two Apple Id's together do to various digital rights management issues.

Now if it was a work e-mail he used and you know the password you can change the email address associated with the apple ID.

If that's not an option you may...may be able to transfer the purchase licenses. It's a long shot for that but contact Apple at:
