Ahhhh, went into the last (still active) server & "Save Product Keys" gets 'em all in once file. Nifty.

Ohhhhh, I can paste them but - it's still not letting me do them in the Order I need.
Why the fuck can't it just take the NEWEST code??

Enfocus / Previous Switch Keys Format
March 22, 2024, 12:21:10 PM
I have a ticket in to Enfocus but I'm impatient.

I have all of the previous. Keys DL'd from my Enfocus panel, but the License Manager needs them imported as HTML. When I look at a few of the other keys I already have in HTML, I can't just copy-paste the ones I need as there's a "Serial" field and no idea how that's generated.

Am I stuck waiting for Enfocus?

XMF is supposed to do exactly that, we've always had our Dielines (and all the possible variations that people use) set to Overprint on the Plate but Knockout in the Proofs so they'll show up easily on Epsons. Lately though, they' haven't been honoring those settings. Gotta put a call in to Support, just haven't had a chance.

That Preflight Action is a good idea though, might employ that in the mean time.

I know they have a Forum, do they take any kind of usability Suggestions? Seems like you have a pretty decent working knowledge of the app, I've only ever fired it up at home on occasion to mess around.

General Prepress / Re: Need a new Mac...help

Well, I ordered 2 new Minis for here and I'm making a Ventura Installer on USB via the instructions from RMPrepress above, so maybe I'll benefit from your paranoia!  ;D

Quote from: pspdfppdfxhd on December 16, 2023, 02:48:51 PMIs remoting on a Mac hard? I tried it once there was some bizzare command line in terminal. Couldn't get it to work, got frustrated and gave up. The microsoft remote works great from Macs to pcs.
I know in the past, M$ Remote Desktop was ok, if bloated. I use a program called Jump Desktop, it's paid but single license fee with unlimited installs (no stupid yearly fee) and very reasonable. I had to have the IT folks we use set up my access to get through our Sonicwall device but it works like a charm. I can get to all of the devices, Windows & Mac when necessary.

Quote from: DCurry on December 04, 2023, 05:54:20 PMNot terribly impressed with a couple things so far - the Imposition window sucks (no preview, can't save presets, and making the crop marks behave is confusing as hell) and I'm surprised that you can't split the output while generating the merged file.
Yup, a lot of why I never used our version much to do jobs it should be more than capable of-just clunky with some unforgivable UI for as long as its been around. Good luck!

The Rest... / Re: Randomize Images in SmartStream
December 04, 2023, 07:01:39 PM
Ah, ok - I was starting to go down that path then just gave up for the day. The other "special" part of this is that each month has to have 2 potential images. I honestly think I'll make a Set A & Set B and that will have to do. This fucking thing is WAY over-promised - oh and it's a promo job so as usual there's NO money in it.

The Rest... / Randomize Images in SmartStream
December 04, 2023, 04:20:02 PM
Not sure this is possible using SmartStream, but one of our internal "geniuses" has promised a set of 1000 calendars to be produced where say Company A gets 12 calendars, and for every piece, the month's main pic is randomly assigned from a pool of images supplied. So all 12 calendars may use the same images, just placed differently within each month's spread.

And of course, the back page will need the 12 thumbnails to match that same random order. My head hurts.
I did a few Data Sets, here are the first 2, but when I output the 2nd data set, it doesn't follow the Rules (screenshot) and only uses the first "ImageName" pic - for ALL the image placeholders.

Digital Printing / Re: Xante iQueue Black isn't Black

Our Prod Mgr brought me a job yesterday for about 200 Reg #10s, and wanted me to "show him" how to get the Xanté setup to run 'em because that Operator was off. I flat out refused, and stood at the Xerox in prepress and fed them 12 at a time instead. Just as good, much less frustration.

Ohhhhh, wait - once Adobe posts the explanation it all makes sense!!!

QuoteFollowing the latest macOS guidelines, we have completely overhauled the Acrobat scrolling framework for Mac as part of our September '23 release. This fundamental transition from NSView to NSScrollView significantly impacts the behaviour of the Mac user interface. It introduces a modern scrolling experience that is responsive during active use and eliminates the need for excessive space.
So glad they've read all of our collective minds & addressed all that "excessive space" usage!!

Saw an iJet at the Print Show in Atlanta last week - I'd love to roll the Xanté out into the street & replace it with that!
