I have an odd thing happening with my iMac. When I drag a file to the trash can, from the local HD, it instantly deletes. I have re-installed the OS, ran disk utility & I have checked a lot of different forums, tried a number of terminal commands but it still does the same thing. Anyone seen this issue before?

Thanks

So instead of it putting the stuff in the trash, it actually operates the way does on network drives where once you drag it to the trash and confirm, it is gone forever? Never seen it do that from a local drive.

I have not seen this behavior on my Macs at home with Mavericks.
Do you have your finder prefs set to secure delete or something?

It seems to treat the local drive as a network drive. The preferences appear ok too. Like I said - "weirdness"
