Yes, they have

For MPE machines you need a password to upgrade the speed, for MCE or GMCE you need a new license file. The dongle (service dongle is the right name), is used to run ServiceShell. On the "market", the upgrade price is between 500 and 5.000 US$, depends on what do you need (4up to 8up, speed, head type, etc.)
