Windows / Re: Bogus update screws up computers

:cane: Through all the years I've worked with computers (1980s) I can not stand them anymore. Its so bad, mailing your bills is frowned on now. Getting your identity stolen is ok, just a little hassle. Kids are socially retarded, staring at their monitors for days, even sleeping with their iphones. Lunatics making murderous threats on so called social media before they off several people and themselves (part of being socially retarded---period). Canned electronic hip-hop garbage music created on some dumbass music mixing Mac App..Auto updates can kiss my ass.

There's always de-humidifiers one can purchase. However, if the platesetter is in a very large space..............

Quote from: Joe on May 19, 2015, 08:07:37 PMI'm the SEO Officer where I work. Of course there is no extra significance to it. And no extra money. And I still have to do prepress too. Just another duty tacked onto "prepress".

You aren't wrong. Just try to talk to an actual human at some of the big internet fish...Google, Yahoo, eBay, Paypal, etc....it just isn't possible and if you don't like the decisions they make there is nothing you can do about it.
The lack of people you can understand that service anything these days are far few. Times have really changed. With all of these linear technologies one would think standards of living would increase, but it really has gotten worse. Its ugly.

Not for free. The owner of the restaurant placed a $1500 deposit. Like most restaurants, the print count is low, this is a copy job not offset, so the costs will not be over the top for some, which in many cases compels the printer to take a prepress hit.

When our salesman first brought the job in for me to look at, seeing how crowded the pages were in addition to all the corrections and many additions, I told him from the start this job has to be redesigned in order to just add the additions let alone the looks of this ugly crowded menu. This was a 6 page 8.5x14 menu, Now its 8 pages.

Thanks everyone for the help. I received so many changes I decided to just redesign the menu. Brought the text in from Publisher and ran with it. A photographer is going to take shots of their grub, place, add a couple of effects and that's that.

Many many changes. My advice to the salesman was that I'll make changes to the publisher file if they are basic changes. It turns out the changes are massive, adding pictures, add several more dishes and adding extra pages. Also, they want a somewhat different look but not too far off what they have already. All that equals Indesign. That plug-in would be nice but I'm not paying for it, neither are the golfers here.

Adding pictures to a page already full of text, change pricing, adding more dishes. How long? everyone keeps asking.

I know this has been asked before, I'll ask again. I have a nightmare restaurant menu, about 1000 dishes in this menu all done in Publisher. Is there a way to convert this chit somewhat over to Indesign? Stripping a pdf of the file and reformat is the only way I know.

Did you notice the fold? She designed this 3 panel tri-fold bro with the middle panel being shorter of the 3. All images where RGB. Originally provided printready pdfs that where lores, no bleeds etc. What does that tell me? An underpaid Internet designer who couldn't get a job with GOoGOo, so now I'm blessed with her genius.  :lmao:

Dagnabbit! It took me a second to make that correction. Can't recall ever having to edit a graph in Indy, but it does seem familiar.  Thanks DCS, beer on me.

Quote from: andyfest on October 15, 2014, 11:09:23 AMCan you export a pdf of the problem page successfully from Indy that incorporates all of the elements? Perhaps some of us can look at that.
I emailed a Indy file to Joe who'll post it
because I couldn't. However in Pitstop I am able to select and edit, move boxes, rules etc. I'm still thinking its something the designer cut and pasted into the document and then linked text and pics to it. That tells me I should be able to edit this thing in Indy.

Joe its a 2 page, 3 panel job. I created a separate file containing only the problem page. No links needed because it's only the colored boxes and rules that need to be adjusted. The client did some crazy stuff linking some of the text boxes to this thing and some not attached. Weird. Anyway I attempted to attach only that one page Indy file and said its to big at 2.5 megs. I'm not a member of any drop-box, grab-bag site.

Can someone tell me how to edit this page? I'm attempting to adjust the folds on this 3 panel job and need to move rules, colored boxes out to line up with my blue guides for folds. But for the life of me I can't edit it. Its not a table or a linked graphic. Its vector, can be edited in illustrator and pitstop, in which it tells me I'm missing a step here in Indy. Its appears to be some sort of elements pasted into the document. The designer seemed to have linked some text boxes to this mess so I don't want to open a can of worms. I attempted to provide a link but errord out. Help would be appreciated with a beer.  :drunk:
