The 35mph is just the "maximum" allowable speed - you can drive at whatever speed you want, even down to 25mph. I tend to drive around 31mph in 35mph zones.

Around where I live I'm normally slower than the posted limit and I get almost run off the road some days. It's super twisty and if you don't know the roads you can easily get caught out. When it gets to the parts where it's just trees and no houses then that's a different story.
